  1. Since they didn't score, Sabreland was happy with it. Cassidy not so much; he said in the postgame he would have rather had the power play. The commentators on the Vegas postgame put it this way: Given the choice, who wouldn't want a breakaway?
  2. We are here: (cued up to the right spot):
  3. I'm glad I'm not making that decision. I like the idea of keeping 3 goalies on the roster but we've already had to play a game with 5D because we didn't have enough healthy skaters with the club so I doubt KA goes that route. I'd like to see UPL get his fair shake as long as he's playing well. It would be nice to hit on a goalie for a change. In the end I think Adams will send him down if Comrie and Anderson are both healthy. I heard Comrie will likely play a few in Rochester as a conditioning stint so we're a ways away from making that call. Who knows if all three goalies will be healthy once he's played those games?
  4. And for the record, they did get a forward line change in toward the end by getting the puck to the neutral zone.
  5. The Sabres can't control that though. Just win and the rest will take care of itself.
  6. Let's get into the playoffs and not worry so much about advancing. The Sabres are excellent these days against lesser teams and is learning how to play better teams. A win is a win, especially when half your D corps is hurt. Last time the Sabres had this many players injured they were in the middle of an 8 game losing skid. Right. That's pretty much how the league works these days.
  7. [Morgan Freeman voice]: "And indeed he was the first star that night."
  8. More rearranging deck chairs.
  9. This season, yes. There have been a ton of multigoal leads erased this year, not just the Sabres. They talk about it often on highlights shows.
  10. When you ice the puck you can't change players out. The forwards behing closer to the bench managed to change out, but Muel and Dahlin were stuck out there. But you're right: You don't playing ANYONE for 3 minutes straight when you're trying to protect a lead. IN UPL WE TRUST was the motto of this game.
  11. I can't see the Sabres postgame... 3 weeks ago who couldn't do it? UPL?
  12. Cassidy talking about the players he didn't have (Jack, Theodore)... of course the Sabres were playing 3 Dmen that weren't on the opening night roster. Cassidy on UPL: "He's a pretty damned good goaltender."
  13. Like I said I don't think he was totally correct in how he did it, but he shortened the bench. This is new for him.
  14. Cassidy also talking in terms of moral victory. The process. Positives.
  15. I felt Granato went to the whip at the end- shortening the bench, going with his best players. I'm not sure he managed the end of the game as good as he could have but I would say it was significant in that he's been coaching to teach up until tonight. Tonight was different: He was coaching to win. Mark this day on your calendar as the game when the Sabres when from a building team to a team that's competing for the playoffs.
  16. 4 points out of the last WC spot with a game in hand. So close. Keep pressin' boys. Not the last 4 games it hasn't....
  17. They are announced in the pregame show... you know, the one ESPN+ doesn't air.
  18. VGK had more shots in the 3rd than in the 1st and 2nd combined.
  19. VGK announcers talking about moral victories. 😉 Half the team ends up on the penicillin ill list....
  20. I think that was a case (as with EDM early in the season) of the other team throwing EVERYTHING THEY HAVE at the Sabres to try to tie it up.
