Shannon The Hockey Guy seems to think they will trade Comrie. "I think Comrie ends up on the market. I don't think you move on from Luukkonen and certainly don't think you move on from Anderson. They've both played really, really well."

Yep. I grew up in Buffalo, went to college near Albany (RPI) from 80-84. There were so many things that showed up after that...The Original Pizza Logs, Paula's Donuts, a few other things that escape me at the moment. One of the ultra cool things that I've been blessed with here in Texas is Buffalo Bros, a bar that's a pretty good approximation of a old Buffalo tavern dropped here into Fort Worth, 3 miles from my house, so a lot of the Buffalo foods I would otherwise miss are available to me whenever I'm in the mood, and they're also the DFW Bills Backers bar, so when the Bills play pretty much everyone there is from WNY. (When the Bills played the Cowboys on Thanksgiving in 2019, they had a party the night before and had 700 people there. Forget the headline, this was Fort Worth, not Dallas; I'm in pic 54.)

But why punish him to playing well? I would keep all 3 goalies. Anderson can play the odd game here and there and UPL can be 1A and Comrie 1B. If UPL is the better choice, and the Sabres are in (or very close to) a playoff spot, I think you need to keep him up. I think they carry 3 goalies on the roster until they know who's gonna stay with the team. Don't be surprised if Andy "suffers an injury in practice."

I think it's likely that they keep three goalies.

Agreed. I think the 8 game hiccup helped the team overall though.

I agree, but I also think that having to go that deep into the depths of the depth on D gave some of these players valuable experience playing in Granato's system. What they weren't ready for in November, they were prepared for this month. I think all of the defensive depth is playing at least a little better than they originally did. And Clague might actually be, as you said, at least our 7D. deep into the depths of the depth on D deep into the depths of the depth on D deep into the depths of the depth on D deep into the depths of the depth on D!!!! Very good, class. You are dismissed. 😄

Okay, tomorrow is the second game of a back to back. I suggest the following (are you paying attention, Donny?) Bring in the well rested forwards. Switch from this Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Peterka - Cozens - Quinn Mittelstadt - Jost - Olofsson Girgensons - Krebs - Okposo to this Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Peterka - Cozens - Quinn Asplund - Jost - Okposo Girgensons - Krebs - Hinostroza The idea is not putting two new guys with Jost, but spreading them around, with the goal of giving the bottom six some fresh legs. I don't think Donny will do it though; I expect him to ice the roster than won today.

Memba? I mean the way the Sabres played at the end of the season last year was fantastic. Playoff pace. The only problem was they'd dug too deep of a hole for it to matter. They dug a hole again this year, but this year they found themselves much earlier in the season. The early injuries on D set them back but as they've gotten healthy they really are back to where they were late last season, and much earlier. If they keep this up, the playoffs are clearly attainable. They are currently 4 points out of the last WC spot with 3 games in hand. Win those three games and they are in the playoff mix. Looking at the January schedule I can see them getting 24 points for the month. The biggest unknown is seeing how they play with playoffs on the line. Last year they were playing for pride, now it's for playoff position. It's a different kind of pressure so it will be interesting to see how they handle it.
