  1. Agree, but I'm not changing the title. It was based on the tweet.
  2. It's a summarized paraphrase of the original Sabres tweet so, no. Tweet language: The Buffalo Sabres have announced that Terry Pegula has been named Sabres president. I wrote: Terry Pegula named Sabres President Tweet language: Pegula Sports & Entertainment will be separating resources between the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, allowing each respective organization to focus singularly on their efforts. I wrote: PSE separating Bills and Sabres
  3. I had a pretty pronounced reaction to my last wasp sting. My hand swelled up quite a bit and it started to go up my wrist. if it would have gone much further I would have gone to ER but then it slowed down and eventually receded.
  4. It appears to me that this is the fundamental difference between Kevyn and the previous GMs: Terry trusts Kevyn and doesn't overrule him. I think Kevyn followed Pegula/Krueger's direction the first year he was here and when that failed he had the plan to recover and Terry told him to run with it. I think he knows how to communicate with the Pegulas to get their concurrence and retain their support, a talent the previous GMs either didn't have or didn't bother to employ.
  5. And vote of confidence, real or implied, you have for the Pegulas flummoxes me.
  6. That's press release speak. In the end, both Roth and Adams are empowered executives. I think Terry trusts them both (which was not the case with previous GMs), which actually makes his involvement less impactful. I think he's learning to not be meddlesome, or at least trying.

  8. Same direction he's always gone, and John Roth goes where Kim used to go.
  9. He will score 50 goals.
  10. At the NHL level I expect nothing from Savoie. His time will come but it's not here yet.
  11. Kind of. I think I figured it out: Remember a year or two ago, the NHL said teams can now sell up to... was it 25%? stake in a franchise? This may be the precursor to a move to sell a stake in the Sabres to an investor.
  12. There was. It was led by Kevyn and Donny Meatballs. Terry still thinks he's in charge but he hasn't been for a while.
  13. Is this significant or just a reshuffling of the deck chairs to make the accountants happy?
  14. It helps if there is a trade during the season. If the compensation is $10 million but $9 million is signing bonus, the acquiring team only has to pay the player the remaining prorated portion of the $1 million salary. Note the cap hit is still $10 million. This is why the Ben Bishop and Johnny Boychuk acquisitions were good for Buffalo when they were far below the cap. Kevyn brought in cap hit at little actual expense to the team.
  15. I follow Lynda Carter on Twitter. She seems like a genuinely nice person. There are a few celebrities I follow on Twitter and Facebook not so much because they're my favorite artists, but because they seem like nice people. Also include Danny Trejo, Dionne Warwick and Henry Winkler on that list. With all the excesses that you hear about in show business, it's nice to find out there are stars who live wholesome lives. And yeah, I kind of think Lynda is easy on the eyes. But that's not the point. I used to be a rocket scientist, so there is that...
  16. You've finally framed this correctly
  17. I kind of feel like Mitts will be some sort of bellwether for the Sabres. He isn't one of the Big Stars but he's close. Will he give a hometown discount to stay with something that's building into hopefully a perennial contender or will he maximize his earnings by jumping elsewhere? Will he grow into a veteran leader with the team or will he be eclipsed by the young talent pushing up? It's a pivotal time for the Sabres and a pivotal time in Casey's career.
  18. Basically the Fediverse is something that if you code a platform correctly, anyone can tap into it. Mastodon is the open source software that does that. So anyone can set up Mastodon on their server and tap into the Fediverse, which is basically like a decentralized Twitter. Each server is moderated by the server owner. They moderate other servers that don't follow common sense rules of decorum by "defederating" from the offending servers (basically, blocking the whole server and all their users). So instead of a single megalomaniac controlling the platform it's controlled by all the individual server owners. Threads is a Meta offshoot (Meta owns Facebook and Instagram). It was developed by Instagram and intended to be similar but more text-based. It's intended to be a Twitter competitor. I don't think it's hooked up to the Fediverse yet but there are reports that that is the intent for Threads. If/when Threads joins the Fediverse it could become a viable alternative and fierce competitor to Twitter. I have an account on a Mastodon server; I signed up last autumn when there were reports of Twitter's imminent demise (which never happened). So far it's nothing like Twitter in that there are very few official corporate or professional accounts there, but there are a lot of people there. I could see Threads injecting that corporate/professional focus that would make me and a lot of other people feel like we can cut the Twitter cord once and for all. Oh, and I understand about thermo. I did just well enough to never have to take it again (and even then I think the professor was just being nice).
  19. I woke up late, then on the way to work there was one of those signs that shows freeway conditions and said there was a "major accident" on my route. I diverted around and took a route through a sketchy area. Apparently the ballers were sleeping off their nightly intoxication because traffic was almost non-existent on those surface streets and I made it to work on time. Barely.
  20. I just want to watch this thread to read everyone’s almost assuredly reasonable, thoughtful and friendly takes on this contract value. I don't think Adams gives him that much. More like 5, but what do I know? That's just a gut feel reaction.
