Olofsson is still on the roster. As much as you would like it, he's not going anywhere this season. We still have three goalies too.

General comment on the alumni culture thing: Recent alums are not the players you want influencing this team; their culture was one of losing and suckitude. The experience of older alums is not as relevant to the players of today (reference remarks upthread about smoking and boozing, etc.) There is a sweet spot, maybe the late-90s to mid-2000s, where the alums would be a good influence, but even they are a case of a couple of brief periods of success interspersed frustration and failure. The original comparison to what the Bruins are doing isn't really valid in that the Bruins have had a pretty consistent history of winning or at least being a good team most seasons. The decade of Sabres futility warrants wiping the slate clean and starting from the ground up with the players that are right here, right now, and Kevyn and Donny are doing just that. Okposo, Anderson, EJo, are the "alumni" we want influencing and teaching this group of kids, notwithstanding the fact that Okie and EJo are current players. When Kevyn traded Eich, it was a clear demarcation that the Sabres were cutting off the old times, the old ways, and moving forward. At this point I think that's the way to go, and looking back is too fool of potholes, frustration and disappointment. This is a new Buffalo Sabres. There are touchstones to the past (recorded RJ announcements at KBC, the Let's Go Buffalo chant, but even the chant has been given a new spin with the big drum and bringing in someone to "lead the charge" or whatever its called.) I've been a strong proponent of the blue and gold color scheme but in keeping with this being a New Buffalo Sabres team, I wouldn't even be that upset if they switched to black and red. It seems to suit their personality better somehow. Okay I'll stop rambling now.

When I wrote my original comment on the subject I was thinking of the waiver thingy but forgot to mention it. When you brought it up I remembered something about 30 days. But I honestly don't know about how all that works plus I'm apparently only remembering things in small increments these days.

You're right, there's also the waiver issue, but if they cleared waivers at the season's start, they don't have to clear waivers again for 30 days, innit? They can just be sent back down? (Or are beginning-of-the-season waivers different?)

I can already see the improvement. He had a couple of gaffs yesterday (like getting caught in between on the first goal and not preventing the pass) but really if Krebsie covers the slot a little better that would not have been an issue. On the whole I thought Clifton played well last night, especially after Muel left the game (as did Johnson).

The line of thinking goes: The Sabres didn’t dominate time of possession as the SOG would suggest. Shot attempts (Corsi) were actually dead even. So, more of an even game than one the Sabres controlled. I would say based on my eye test, the truth is somewhere off from that. Perhaps the Bolts had so many missed shots because of pressure from Sabres defenders.... or something like that? So yeah, the Lightning got a lot of shots off but not nearly as many quality shots on goal because the Sabres were harassing them and preventing open shots.

You do realize that the first 2 games the Sabres were hot trash all around?
-
Maybe not, but if they know it's just a game or two I could see giving him that to bust his NHL cherry.
-
So is there going to be a Ryan Johnson callup?
-
If this is in addition to Between Two Stalls I'm good with it. If it's their attempt to replace it... eh.

Ironic, isn't it, that Benson is on the team in large part because Quinn was injured? Yes I know Benson earned his spot, but the Sabres would have had a much harder time creating spot to fill if Quinn were healthy.
