  1. I get it, but I think they might have told him if he signed after his junior year, he'd have a shot at the NHL right away. Agreed. I think they told him that to get him to sign. To not keep him up at the beginning of this season would have been going back on their word and spoiling the relationship (if they did, in fact tell him he'd get a shot at an NHL spot to get him to sign).
  2. Ack. That all started with Luukkonen trying to move the puck himself. I was just getting ready to say he's gotta work on his stick handling. It seems like when he plays the puck, the other team gets it more often than the Sabres.
  3. I realize your remark is tongue in cheek, but I think it's actually the opposite: He wanted a job where he *could* spend time with family and could for the most part set his own schedule.
  4. Tage goal was a wrister from left wing at the top of the circle.
  5. Very nice D play by Olofsson in the defensive corner to break the Sabres out when they were hemmed in. I can't believe I just wrote that sentence.
  6. Not quite. It had been a decade since I'd followed the NHL; we were both WIngs fans at that point in time. I missed the entire 1980s of Sabres and didn't really pick up on them until I bandwagoned on the '99 Cup Finals team.
  7. In the case of Craig Anderson, I'm thinking whateverthehell he wants.
  8. I believe he is a goalie consultant for the Sabres. It wouldn't surprise me if he was in Rochester.
  9. I think the whole Levi thing is that they told him if he signed he would get a shot in the NHL right off the bat. If you recall, he was finishing his junior year and if he went back for his senior year he would have been able to sign as a free agent after graduating. In order to keep him in the fold, they wanted to make sure he signed. When he came up last season he was 5-2 and looked pretty good. Coming into this season I think the brain trust felt it was worth a shot, and in the spirit of what they told Levi, to keep him on the NHL roster out of camp. When his numbers this season didn't look great and the rest of the goalie saga played out (injuries, etc.), they sent him down to get work. It was not certain, going into this season, what his performance would be, after his strong audition last season... and they wanted to make sure they kept him in the organization.
  10. Benson is clearly not NHL ready.
  11. Ukko Pekka Luukkonen may not lose another game this year. Realistically, they need to go 2-0-1 over the next 4 to keep things going.
  12. If they end the season on an 18 game winning streak, I think they're in.
  13. UPL is starting to make it "having a walrus in goal" easy.
