True, but teams gotta care about money; can't ignore it. Cap can can make teams worse in a hurry with little recourse.

Buy stock in ibuprofen manufacturers. Production to ramp up due to high demand from both Markland and CGY fans.

You nailed it.

One way contract, no.

Somewhat surprisingly, there's a urban dictionary entry for it, although not the top entry:
-
Not even a Larsson replacement. 16th F at best.

The right question is what was I expecting in the one-way contract and use of a roster spot range.

Zemgus Girgensons signs 3 Year 2.2 M AAV Deal With Sabres
IKnowPhysics replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Depends on roles, line usage, and expectations. They intentionally designed a team that used the 4th line to trash the other team's 2nd line in our own end. And they didn't take a beating doing it; in fact, they ended up doing alright Corsi-wise. But the team needed secondary scoring from lines 2/3, which was among the main points of failure. So who do you replace? ERod, Sheary, Simmonds, Sobotka, Vesey and Frolik? All gone. You have to be able to identify what's good about your team and build from there. Strangely, it was lines 1 and 4 that were solid. -

Friendly reminder that Girgensens-Larsson-Okposo was one of the most effective 4th lines in the league even with their high defensive zone usage. It's one bright spot that I wouldn't be surprised to see stay together this year. I'm happy for Z. -

The NHL All Star. The Latvian Locomotive. Kneel before Zemgus. -
Here's the video: https://www.nhl.com/predators/video/inside-war-room-for-round-1/t-277437416/c-6798447 Point of interest at 0:45. You can see in the video when in the draft this trade was discussed by Nashville: just after Ottawa selects Sanderson at# 5. Proposed goings on: I think the Sabres may have wanted Sanderson. Then when they couldn't get him, because Ottawa reached at #5, they wanted to draft Quinn. They knew Quinn or a comparable player could be gotten at #11 (because Drysdale, Holtz, Perfetti, Rossi, and Lundell were also still on the board), so they called Nashville to trade down to pick up #37. I believe Nashville had been advertising the #37 pick as available, as they eventually traded it (with Bonino and #70) to MIN (for Kunin and #101) near the beginning of the 2nd round. However, Nashville knew that they were going to take Askarov and likely projected that he wouldn't be taken by any team before them at #6-10: ANA, NJD, BUF, MIN, WPG, and therefore gained little value in moving up to jump over teams that wouldn't take a G. Nashville turned down the offer and the Sabres stayed put at 8. I think if I were ask myself, even a few days ago, if I wanted Rossi or Quinn+#37, I would probably lean towards Quinn and #37. The attempt to get more value didn't go, and here we are with Quinn.

Krueger wants Dylan Cozens to start on the Wing

Perhaps implied and overlooked, but nonetheless equally important: Ralph Krueger thinks Dylan Cozens is ready to play in the NHL. -
Prediction Time: Will the Sabres make a big move on Friday?
IKnowPhysics replied to nfreeman's topic in The Aud Club
Pretty much have to have a big day. We only have eight forwards under contract. -
Krueger wants Dylan Cozens to start on the Wing
IKnowPhysics replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It's one way to go. The other, of course, being starting him at 4C with veteran wingers. It comes down to line usage. If you lean on lines 3/4 to take defense zone starts, you probably want to shelter the kid with more offensive zone starts, so you put him top six, but there's no way you lean on him to be the 2C. If you chessmatch the lines and shelter line 4 with high OZ% and low quality of competition, you can put Cozens at 4C with support. Looking at this past year's usage, Girgensens-Larsson-Okposo got the defensive zone starts, and there didn't seem to be much chessmatch-ing against different competition for forwards (although it looks like Oloffson-Eichel-Reinhart attracted the opponent's best players slightly more often). Those two lines also received the most zone start bias, defensively and offensively, respectively. The other lines either got mixed usage over the season or weren't biased at all. If RK runs it the same way again, expect Cozens in at middle-six wing with not much competition sheltering and probably not a whole lot of zone start bias either. -
I think it's reasonable to be wary of Adams's choice to risk losing what is currently our 2nd best RW to UFA in an intentional salary negotiation tactic to avoid arbitration.
