http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=395392 Kesler out for six months after shoulder surgery; expected to miss the start of next season. Sorry Gillis, no backsies.

He leads the Sabres in ice time with 23:20. He leads the D in scoring with 30 points and shots with 130 in 59 games. He has 9 points and is +6 in his last 12 games. Solid.

This, except Ruff isn't the prinicpal, he's the teacher, and Cody's staying after class to work on his arithmetic. Because the team's been on the road and playing games, Hodgson only had his first full practice with the team within the last week(end?). We're playing important hockey and he wants to catch up to the system, not to mention contribute on the stat line. And who knows, maybe that's the first time Ruff has gotten a chance to work with Cody one on one on the ice.

Word on the street is that after succumbing to Boston's physical style of play, the Canucks developed an almost palpable size inferiority complex. ESPN analysts believe they were desparately trying to make a deal for Steve Ott of Dallas, but when that didn't happen, they made late moves for Samual Pahlsson and Zack Kassian. Bringing in Pahlsson (and already having Sedin, Kesler, and alternate captain Malhotra) meant that Hodgson would see even less playing time, making the blue chipper expendable in the short term for another large body in Kassian. Luke Schenn, talented as he may be, wouldn't have fit with the moves Vancouver thought they needed to make: adding size up front on the checking lines.

Kinda interesting behind-the-scenes bit: the conference call to the league informing of the trade.

Time will tell, but this trade may possibly end up better than trading ~30 games of Goose (and a 4th) for a 1st. Excellent ambition today, DR. Welcome Cody Hodgson and what'shisname Sulzer!

I got the impression from her broken english that they were not "real," but were "real heavy." Like silicone bricks.

Played pickup for an hour and a half instead of eating lunch today, feelsgoodman. Now that I'm starving, I'm going to leave work early to get me some Chick Fil A before meeting up with the girl later for a free movie screening at Paramount. Bonus: I'll beat traffic up to Hollywood.

I believe it all started when we let go of Rob Niedermayer.

I bet she'd eat anything.

Hells yes. It's 26 three day weekends a year. 26. So if you have things you like to get done on the weekend (camping, chilling, chores, etc) or want extra time to do weekday stuff (errands/shopping/banking, etc), it works out great. Plus my bosses are flexible about when I actually take those Fridays off. So if I'm going vacation, I can stack consecutive Fridays off (by moving one from a previous week). That allows me to have ten consecutive days off from work at the expense of only 4 days of vacation. I'm exempt, but I make overtime for hours worked. So occasionally, I'll grab overtime pay for working a regular shift on a Friday that I would of had off. Pretty sweet concept- overtime pay for working regular hours on a weekday. --- Bonus F'N Fantastic Friday fact: tonight's game will be the first live Sabres game televised since I got my 60" plasma a few months ago. Edit: love the thread concept. Buffalo fans are often quick to be downers (see also: regular Complaint thread exists years before regular Fantastic thread). Love the uplifting lovefest thread before the weekend.

Couple good things. -Just bought the car of my dreams (an immaculate Hemi Orange Challenger SRT8 six speed). Best anything ever. -Sold old car private party for twice what dealer offered on trade in. -Girlfriend comes home tomorrow from a three week trip: ---Told me to get plenty of rest and not make any plans for Saturday night or all day Sunday. Giggity. ---She doesn't know I bought the car- I've been keeping it as a surprise for when I pick her up at the airport. -I have today off because I work a 9/80- meaning I can watch tonight's game live (here on west coast).

OC's far for me on a week day. Could use something on the west side of LA.

Amherst Central.

Do we know that girl's first name? She resembles someone I went to high school with.

I wore my Sabres jersey proudly and without resistance at the Wachovia Center while I watched Tampa Bay spank them into obilvion last week. The non-sellout crowd was pitifully boring. I can't imagine what they're like 6 losses later. I still maintain: #%^$#! Philly in their stupid . Let them drown at the bottom of the league. They can go winless until May of 2008, and I still wouldn't be satisfied.

Yeah, I might as well idle in there as well, as I'm on IRC about 98% of the time anyways. That being said, it wouldn't be a half bad idea to operator me.

This Day in Sabres History :: March 10
IKnowPhysics replied to Stoner's topic in This Day in Sabres History
Do the addition of Gratton + 4th round pick for Briere + 3rd pick, you get: Wayne Primeau + Holzinger + Sarich + 3rd rd pick + 4th rd pick = 2nd rd pick + Briere + 3rd rd pick This equation reduces to: Primeau + Holzinger +Sarich + 4th = Briere + 2nd Figure Sarich + Holzinger might be enough to cover talented Briere, and you still get a 2nd rd pick for mere Primeau and a 4th rd pick. Net gain for Sabres. Other notable chain-deal for Regier: March 23,1999 Mike Wilson to Florida for Rhett Warrener and a 1999 5th round draft pick (Ryan Miller) July 03,2003 Sabres send Keith Ballard to Colorado for Steve Reinprecht. Sabres then trade Rhett Warrener and Steve Reinprecht to Calgary for Chris Drury and Steve Begin Wilson + Ballard = Drury + Begin + 5th rd Evolved in time... Wilson + Ballard = Drury + Miller -
He's calling you dumb. :D

January 18, 2006 For the first time since the dawn of man, the Buffalo Sabres receive national fan recognition in an obscure online poll conducted by si.com. The Sabres were rewarded with the most votes, 35%, for "who is more underrated." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/hockey/nhl/ (Center, bottom of page)

Good stop on Hemsky.
