  1. Yep. We should GM by committee.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DUfx22O4kw
  3. There's also something appealing to me about signing UFAs that we didn't draft and then trading them for draft picks. Free draft picks!
  4. I'm happy with this. I hope he goes on and does well- he's capable of being better, but there's a small sliver of me that wants him to tank like Brad Boyes did.
  5. I thought someone might latch onto that, but I didn't post this earlier anyways. From that article: Maybe it makes a difference or not. Maybe it makes it more likely to be correct or not. That article has no substance- it contains no new information, doesn't quote anyone, and doesn't cite anything- and seems to be a knee jerk reaction to the knee jerk Miller trade rumors.
  6. Tell him to wash his shin pads.
  7. It's not that I hate him, I just can't fathom how anybody could think that window licker is good at his job.
  8. All of this is for another thread, but Feaster's one the worst GMs in sports. He destroyed that Tampa cup team, and resigned before he could be fired, citing differences with management. During his unemployment, he blogged about how NTCs were the work of the devil, then signed eight players to NTCs when became GM of the Flames (in addition to the several that were already signed to them), sending that franchise directly to Salary Cap Hell. He traded away Regehr and a 2nd just so he could dump Kotalik's salary. He just traded the face of the franchise for two beans and a bag of rice. He's trying to push a youth movement in Calgary, except he can't trade his veterans and he doesn't have the high first round picks to do it. He tried to land Ryan O'Reilly with an interpretation of the CBA that would've had to be defended in court and could've folded like a house of cards, screwing the Flames out of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd pick for absolutely no return. He's a ###### menace to Albertan society, and if I'm a Calgary fan working at a restaurant, I spit in his food.
  9. I'd like to thank Aaron Ward for trolling the Bruins fans so hard. I get the impression that while Iginla had a preference to go to the Penguins, in no small part because of Sidney Crosby, Feaster completed the deal with them instead of Boston because the first round pick Boston was offering was conditional on Iginla's re-signing with that team. Penguin's first round pick came unconditionally. That doesn't mean that Boston's deal wasn't better, but the unconditional first is clearly what Feaster was after.
  10. Haha, and while we're being funny, Vanek's cap hit is still $7,142,857.
  11. Yeah, sucks, doesn't it? But by 2020, the cap will be $350M, so no biggy.
  12. I was being wishy-washy, but only mostly. Here's why. That contract is a slut, yes. However I believe that Lecavalier's decline is a result of Stamkos receiving the better roster opportunities. Lecavalier's being used as a 2nd line center with a cast of wingers that doesn't give him much help on the 2nd line. Despite having 13 years of experience, the guy's only 32. You bring him to Buffalo, bam, he's the instant "legitimate 1st line center" everyone wants, Hodgson makes a great #2, and Ennis goes back to wing. Doesn't fix the defense, and puts the hurt on the G spot, but it's a move. The guy's got at least about five more years in him, then you buy him out for the three that are left. Imagine Vinny between Vanek and Pominville. Destructive first line talent, with Hodgson finally helping Ennis with the secondary scoring. And that contract is a slut, yes.
  13. Sure. Noronen as a #3 gathered a 2nd rounder at the deadline those years ago.
  14. I would happily take Lecavalier and Brewer for Miller and Stafford. And yes I know they both have NTCs. Iginla to BOS, Miller to TB- it's a week early, let's blow the doors off this trade deadline!
  15. Yep, then you say, "man, I would trade two first round picks and a tenth roud pick for that Tsujimoto guy," and you figure out what combination of players and picks you have to put togehter to make that happen.
  16. Fire Darcy!
  17. This just in: Sabres sign Baylee Morrison to a three year entry level contract. Sabres acquire Mr. T and franchise rights to a Brauhaus sausage concession stand in exchange for Doug Allen. T expected to conduct intermission interviews of opposing players.
  18. Read my mind. We want Iginla. We've always wanted Iginla. Now he's (almost) available because he's an old UFA. Feaster's price is all wrong for us right now, but we do want Iginla's experience, veteran leadership, and point producing ability on the roster for the next few years while our kids grow up. There's a reason Marty St Louis will still be making $5.6M at age 39 a few years from now, and his name is Steven Stamkos.
  19. I think a lot of this is right, with a few alterations, mostly elevating return value for some players I feel differently about- mostly the players whose value has been deflated in conversation in this forum (I believe they still have a real market value higher than many value them here).
  20. Building on this, I think I'd like to see return for a moved asset include a 1st round pick this year. That could be ammo with whatever 7th-19th mid-round pick we end up with to move up to a top five pick.
  21. Reports are that Calgary's asking price for Iginla is high, and he's only interested in being moved to PIT, BOS, LA, or CHI. Feaster wants a 1st round pick, a top prospect, and a secondary prospect. We're not at the deadline yet and that could be holding up other moves by those and other teams.
  22. Scouts have been and continue to be in the house watching games. I'm sure the requisite conversations are taking place. We're not at the deadline quite yet and for the teams that are willing to buy, they're waiting to see what happens to the bigger fish available in the market.
