  1. That's been mostly true, but we've seen many games this season where the opportunities don't come that easy, especially in 5-on-5 five play and on the inital rush. More often, it's been breakdowns in special teams and 5-on-5 coverage after the other team establishes offensive zone possession (or at least gets the puck deep and the Sabres players start "watching"). Unfortunately, I think we're seeing the effect of not having Tyler Myers (or Leopold or Regehr) on the ice. Initial 5-on-5 pairings last night: Pardy-Pysyk Ehrhoff-Sekera Ruwehdel-Weber Only three of those guys have played more than 18 games this season. Ehrhoff has played about the same number of NHL regular season games before this season as the rest of the defence combined.
  2. DVR took a ######,so I couldn't watch the game, only highlights on NHL.com. Enroth looked very focused- it's clear he wants this job. Vanek's still playing extremely well. The defense looked ATROCIOUS against the rush, getting beat by simple, strong plays around the outside coming in behind. Sekera looked slow on a few of those.
  3. Draw me like one of your French girls.
  4. Just watched this again yesterday for the first time in a while. Still holds up really well... after 14 years (Jesus!).
  5. John Tartorella?
  6. I'll give Myers a season or two more without Regehr and Leopold, hopefully pair him with a good stay-at-home type, and see what happens.
  7. I don't know how the other thread made it all the way to Page 2. It has been a weird statistical year for Staffordylococcus. His corsi numbers are relatively favorable (he's ok or plays with players that are ok in terms of puck posession), but his actual stats suck giant dick. When you pose this question, be ready for tidal wave of answers that range from somewhat reasonalbe explanations to complete and utter horsehit.
  8. If you're ugly or she's ugly, buy two bottles. SImilar, but not the same, wine. Also, pick up a nice dessert that you think she'd like. Maybe stawberries (sliced or wedged), whipped cream, and dark chocolate (grated) on pound cake; make it for her after dinner. Set the table with cheap seasonal flowers from the grocery store (optional), and for god's sake, buy a nice smelling candle to burn that smell out of your room (not optional).

  10. "It marks the second time an AHL team has taken part in the Spengler Cup, which first was played in 1923 -- Rochester finished third in 1996." http://www.nhl.com/i...id=nhl:topheads
  11. "I'm just a caveman. I fell in some ice and later got thawed out by your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses me. When I see tall buildings and flashing neon signs, I just want to get away as fast as I can... to my place in Martha's Vineyard." http://videosift.com/video/SNL-Unfrozen-Caveman-Lawyer Miss you, Hartman.
  12. It's not surprising that I had to all the way to page 3 to find a relevant Milller thread that wasn't exclusively about trades. It seems the bitching and moaning dies down when a player plays well. In the last month or so, Miller's posted a 0.931 save percentage, which would be good for 2nd in the league among season-long save percentage leaders. The team went 5-4-1 when he played. In about the same span, Enroth's posted a 0.955 save percntage, which would tops the league season long. The team went 4-1-1 when he played.
  13. Eh, ###### it. Let's win the next 20 games in a row.

  16. And when you're not draft worthy at 18, and you can choose your team as a free agent at 22, it can become appealing to not be drafted.
  17. Yes, by a lot. And I'm not saying Vanek's fast.
  18. [advanced stats] John Scott plays the "easiest" minutes in the NHL, according to the quality of competition on the player usage charts for this season. [/advanced stats] Doesn't really change my opinion about him, mostly because the minutes he plays are the some of the hardest anyone has to.
  19. Ehrhoff? Ehrhoff.
  20. There's this thread over here where we've had pretty good luck at guessing trade values. http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/21783-sabres-predicted-trade-value/ Most people think Stafford could still fetch between a low 1st rounder or a 2nd-and-3rd and a mid 2nd rounder. Mostly we're antsy because we want that return sooner than later.
  21. I'm enjoying the Two Minutes with Harry Neale segment. Good stories, a perfect place for Neale, and Neale and Duff work well together.
  22. Unfortunately, it was that same cuteness that was directly responsible for our first goal.
  23. Lulz.
