  1. Are there any RFAs we should offer sheet? May not want to give up picks, but the cap reduction could make the playing field very interesting.
  2. Good call. Trade two of our top three scorers for Boston's sixth, who had 22 points in 43 regular season games. Not that any part of trading for a UFA made any sense.
  3. The Jor-El to Stafford's Superman?
  4. Acquire Marty Biron.
  5. True of any trade ever. In this instance, Carolina got a top four D, Buffalo got a RH D and a high 2nd round pick. I think that works for both teams. So why ###### on Regier for making trades like this- or remark that he doesn't?
  6. What do you call the Sekera trade?
  7. RIP Trinidad Silva. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb8C7dxTGRM[/url]
  8. Absolutely. Then tack on the fact that A-B was bought by InBev.
  9. New goal: I want all former Badgers for Sabres defensemen. Gilbert, Drewiske, McBain, McCabe, McDonagh, Schultz, Gardiner, and Suter, with assistant coach Brian Rafalski.
  10. Brother in law of Jacque Pepperjacque.
  11. Yeah, uh, welcome Craig Kanalley!
  12. Well then ###### that guy then. Lacavalier too. Oh wait, HockeyBuzz.
  13. Well, Buffalo secretly has the best of both worlds. We ARE a traditional hockey market, so we have passionate fans and decent ownership that's willing to pay (now), but we're not a big market, so our media isn't a bag of ###### (at least not to the players, usually). Players are still approached in public here somewhat, but as far as I know, people are generally very polite and respectful about it. It's also a good place to raise a family.
  14. I want to blame the Oilers, so I will.
  15. I know. I was waiting for someone to call out my Badger bias. Gilbert was a lot better than McBain at UW, though. Mostly because Gilbert in college was an outstanding defensive defenseman. Then for some reason, either those skills didn't translate or Edmonton perverted him, he's been used as an offensive defenseman.
  16. Derp, my bad. Had just woken up.
  17. I would potentially be interested in Gilbert, if only to take some pressure off of the kids. Puck moving, righthanded defenseman. He was cap hitting at $4M; could probably sign him for $2.7-3M.
  18. Lulz@best player, but think of all the money they could piss away elsewhere if they get his cap hit out of the way. Are they really expecting him to get off of LTIR, even a few years down the line, and be productive before he retires?
  19. Clitsome. I also enjoyed that.
  20. Plus, we end up taking, by many reports, the 4th best goalie in the draft, but we do so with a 5th round pick. Risk/reward, value, etc.
  21. I was in fantasy land and pondering what we could reasonably ask in trade from the Flyers if we volunteered to take on Pronger's contract and cap hit (trade for him, waive medical, take him off LTIR, and let him retire). Does that make a Miller + ___ for Giroux (+ Pronger) even close to feasible? Is too crazy for Holmgren? Or is he so much more crazy that he'll keep putting himself right into salary cap jail? This isn't serious, but what would it be worth to a team to take on Pronger's burden?
  22. Kevin Devine press conference, verbatim "Once we had our two defensemen, obviously we were looking for forwards. We had JT at the end of the first round. He's a guy that Ron Rolston was very familiar with, playing in the (National Team) Development Program. A real high-character guy, kind of a real Chris Drury/Ryan Callahan combination guy. Once we thought he was sliding a little bit, we didn't think he was going to get to 38 (th overall), so we did target him (in the trade with Carolina), yeah."
  23. Welp, Ennis is a top six forward. Guess how many of those we have. Hint: not six.
