Looks like Ruff was a summer intern last year, then graduated, then came on again for a what I'm guessing is a one year internship. Not sure he, or Beamish, is running anything. Probably just assistants in the scouting office, with a few other duties around the organization. He's worked other places, too, so he could be very qualified. Sounds like great way to get into the sport, career-wise.

Regier said that would probably be the case that many teams wouldn't be willing to give up assets in a trade until they determined if they could get UFAs Maybe the market has cooled a little on Miller (or maybe not), but with many of the UFAs signed, the market for Vanek should still be hot. Maybe Darcy had it right, and his patience through the draft will yield better return.

I don't know that signing any of these guys would be part of moving in the right direction for us, but I'm willing to hear arguments.
