Time for Leadership Change - Trade KO and Give Dahlin the C
Carmel Corn replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I love the idea of Tuch having a letter and could definitely support him even sporting the "C". That said, the Sabres have already made their bed though...Dahlin is the only one wearing a letter today and next year (when KO and Girgs are gone), I think the management would view it as a breach of protocol to give the C to somebody who is not already an alternate today. -
Wondering how you think Benson's IQ compares to say Jack Quinn? Not trying to suggest anything, but simply interested in how you think they compare?

Just watched the game on DVR....fantastic 3rd period for the win! Did anybody catch the post goal celebration after Benson's goal? He was surrounded by TNT, Tuch, Power and Muel....he looked like a sapling standing between 4 redwoods...great image!!! But he clearly stood above all of them with his performance!!!

IMHO - yes, they care, BUT I think they also feel outmatched in terms of having enough hard-nosed, physical players to compliment their "finesse" style of play. Such players can instill a greater sense of "security" in their minds to play with more freedom. I also question if they have enough confidence in their coaching staff and management to make the changes necessary.

Time for Leadership Change - Trade KO and Give Dahlin the C

I have tremendous respect for KO, but as they always say in professional sports....."It's a business!" I think loyalty is admirable, but it can also be a double-edge sword (sabre) that can blind you from doing what it takes to win. I'd love to see KO continue with the franchise in a non-player role, but this year's team needs more than what KO can provide on the ice....and maybe it is actually in his best interest to have an opportunity to be part of an actual playoff contender before he hangs up his skates for good. That said, even if GMKA trades him....it matters not unless he fills the vacancy with the type of player the Sabres actually need (not some Rochester minor league or prospect that is not ready to make the jump) -
Unfortunately, YES.....it's like a disease though. I moved away over 30 years ago, but the Sabres are in my blood.
