  1. Ol' Razor just jinxed us on the PK.
  2. As Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons would sing.....Sherry Baby!
  3. Don Cherry suits? Keep you pad on the ice Linus!
  4. Perhaps the Leaf's should have retired Johnny's number 91 in a ceremony before the game to help him feel better. Those evil Islander fans hurt his feelings.
  5. With who? The Sabres trainer? Maybe he can sneak some Bengay in their jocks, but otherwise I don't see anyone else on the bench besides Risto who will get dirty.
  6. Yes, leave Sam on wing. This team needs a 2C badly. Besides anchoring a second scoring line, we need another highly capable center in case Eichel gets injured. It happens every year and when Eichel is out, the team struggles....no center depth to compensate.
  7. Maybe the sleeping giant has finally awakened......oh wait it's Sheary.....make that the sleeping midget instead.
  8. And now it overtime. Sabres 3-on-3 strategy is even worse than their PP. I question if they even practice it.
  9. Hey other D-men....see what can happen when you use a WRIST shot from the point? Please remember that vs. your slow motion off-target slappers.
  10. No movement on the PP.....way to easy to defend against.....nothing new of course.
  11. Wilson took a bad penalty in the 2nd, but he has brought energy to that line. Too bad he could not convert on his chances.
  12. Brutal :) Except his mouth is not wide enough
  13. Sign-up Rob Ray's kid...he already hits harder than half the team.
  14. Not missing Sobotka at all tonight.
  15. I like this more angry version of Zemgus!
  16. For once...a Buffalo Sabre who was a former member of the other team scores (vs. the other way around)!
  17. I kind of miss the good ol' "stand up" goalies.
  18. Perhaps, but I also cringe at the thought of how soft this team will be without Risto. No, I am not saying he's a fighter, but he is one of the few players who can dish out some hits and is strong enough to stand up to other players. If this happens, I hope there is something else in return that brings some new toughness to the team.
  19. I would love to see Sobotka and KO moved, but seriously what GM would be stupid enough to do that (unless it was part of a much larger deal)? Nobody is interested in our overpriced trash unless there is a hidden gem in the offering. It's kind of like accidentally dropping something in the toilet. You may have to now throw in an additional $20 or $50 bill into it to convince yourself that you have enough reason to reach into the #@#$%! to pull out what you first dropped.
  20. You have to create some holes first before we can fix the problem. The challenge is whether GMJB can make something happen with KO and Sobotka, who may be the consensus top two desired ex-Sabres by the fan base. Hoping for something there, but good luck finding a dance partner to deal. Wilson strikes me as more of a 4th liner vs. middle six. Second, finding that true 2C (vs. promoting somebody) is essential in order to make the playoffs in 2019/2020. I don't think Mittelstadt will be there yet and it's not EROD either. Tough challenge for GMJB to do both of these. Can't get too excited personally for next year unless he can pull it off.
  21. Agree with the Dahlin/BOGO pairing for as long as it can last. This year we have finally seen more of maybe what GMTM thought BOGO could bring...but looking at 2019-2020 I wonder if he can stay healthy and whether his contract status makes him trade bait at next year's deadline. Given what we have on paper, I'd prefer to see Montour with McCabe. This leaves Risto + ???? I've been pretty critical of Scandella this year, but I'd like to think maybe he is just jinxed this year and can maybe get back to form. If he plays more with a stay at home mentality, then maybe this can work with Risto.....but maybe wishful thinking. He too may be gone at the deadline. Injuries of course will cause all kinds of ripples and reconfigured pairings.
  22. Yes, would have been nice though if we could have gotten Vaive 5 years sooner that we did! This does cause me to also think that we get some (not all) of these players past their prime and it is still worth it? If we're thinking old school, how about Hawerchuk, Fuhr, Gilles, Paiement, etc. I like trade situations like ROR (yes), Montour and possibly Skinner where they're still in their prime vs. tail end.
  23. TT and Mittelstadt need to spend the summer with Risto. He'll make a man out of them. TT's game today brings back memories of Taylor Pyatt to me.
  24. Sheary can't shoot like Skinner. He can't stay on his feet either. Last he is not much for agitating. Yes, he can occupy Skinner's position on a line as a substitute, but I have no delusions that he will have nearly the impact.
