If I'm not mistaken, he's a LH shot as well...with McCabe going down, wondering if we might see him sooner vs. later in Buffalo?
-
Very possibly. The problem now is that somebody needs to move over to the left side to replace Jake. Irwin is a LH shot, but the Sabres have to figure out who else to move over. I don't like Montour on the left side, but maybe he is the most likely to move over.

Let's hope they don't go into a defensive shell, but rather keep doing what they did for 40 minutes. Keep rolling 4 lines to keep players fresh.
-
Wow, if they keep this up....I could actually enjoy watching these games vs. multi-task!
-
-
In an effort to protect the players from a Covid relapse and also make the Sabres look "tougher", the training staff is issuing masks for the game against the Devils.

With onions?!?! Nasty

Maybe Ralph "the motivator" also needs a pep talk too. Maybe this guy is available...."We must begin by asking itā¦āWhat is losing?ā Losing is a diseaseā¦as contagious as polio. Losing is a diseaseā¦as contagious as syphilis. Losing is a diseaseā¦as contagious as bubonic plague... attacking oneā¦but infecting all. But curable.ā

How Awesome Is Victor Olofsson? Best Forward On The Team!
Carmel Corn replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
I really like Victor's game lately. IMHO his passing has improved this season and this makes him a stronger compliment to his line mates (vs. say Skinner). -
William Borgen, demoted to how good can he be?
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
He looks good to me as well. Some development time in Rochester worked in this case. He seems steady and ready for a regular job. Hope he can stick around. -
Ralph Krueger needs to go - like yesterday.
Carmel Corn replied to MODO Hockey's topic in The Aud Club
Yes they did, and it was one of the most underwhelming and lame pressers I have ever seen. If I had any doubt they were clueless before, it was obvious to me afterwards that they lack the objectivity and critical thinking required to be effective owners. -
Fixing the Sabres Long-Term - Can it be done?
Carmel Corn replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Sorry, but no...Patty hired Ted Nolin, not Bylsma. He then hired GMTM after hiring Nolin. Bylsma came later after GMTM fired Nolin. Patty had nothing to do with the hiring of Bylsma. -

As an incoming President, you hire the GM first, not the HC. Patty did it wrong! -
Fixing the Sabres Long-Term - Can it be done?

You have to change the HC. There is nothing else RK can say to inspire this team. Only a new HC with proven experience and success can change the mindset of the players. No single or even multiple trades will change the room enough in the short term to fix what is broken. -
Perhaps, but the others were one-time quick events. I don't know how categorize a disaster that lasts 10+ years...is there such a thing as an uber disaster?
-
I may have fallen asleep....was there a Gerber collision tonight? I don't remember seeing anything being worthy tonight.
-
How can you miss the net from THAT close (Eakin)?!?!
-
Maybe instead of new t-shirts or reverse retro jerseys, this franchise should be thinking about offering a new series of paper bag masks.
-
At this point, I'd be happy with another team Covid outbreak.
-
My wife just made a suggestion that has me thinking. She said maybe it would not seem so bad if there were no announcers (Dan and Rob). It's bad enough having to watch this, but even more ridiculous when Rob is talking about RK's version of the "PROCESS" as if he was Beane.
-
I'll see your 4-on-1 even strength and raise you a 2-on-0 while on the PK with a shorthanded goal.
-
I am optimistic that the Sabres will have a SOG sometime in the first period and an actual goal by the end of the third (but I can't guarantee it will be an even strength one)!

William Borgen, demoted to how good can he be?
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Perhaps, but IMHO the Pegula's are already on a slippery slope where credible GM's and Executives may decline an offer to come here. Maybe they are getting bad advice, but hiring 3 rookie GM's in a row (and 2 HC's with little or no HC experience) is not a recipe for success. Having the resources doesn't mean that good candidates will look past the Pegula's record of a revolving door. -
William Borgen, demoted to how good can he be?
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Yep. Borgen was not rushed into the NHL and IMHO is an example of proper development in the minors. What little we saw has me wanting to see more now and so I really don't like RK's decision. Montour is a known commodity and should be part of a trade package to shore up other deficiencies on the roster. It may not be a valid comparison, but I really did not like GMTM's decision to trade McNabb. I know he lacked speed, but I liked his size and his willingness to play a more physical style. -

Goaltending is certainly not a strength of this team, but I would say it's not our biggest problem either. Even Hasek in his prime may not have been able to steal a win in either game against the Isles. Lack of even strength scoring is what is killing us and there can be many reasons why it ain't happening. I do say the common denominator is coaching.
