We can trade to get salary dumps by the start of the season. Some teams are well over the cap and will need to offload players. We can absorb them as long as they are short-term players and rack up more draft picks in the process.
Low expectations for today. No Eichel trade, no key goaltending acquisitions either. Might even see GMKA to take on some bad short-term contracts in exchange for future picks in order to consume cap space. Buffalo will have to overpay to get any legit UFA's.
Despite the chatter, I'm still skeptical that anybody is offering anything remotely worth considering. Forget Krebs, Rossi, Byfield, Zegras, etc., at best we'll get an offer the second best prospect from any of these teams. Eichel remains a Sabre.
We need RW bodies. Would prefer avoiding another 1-year older journeyman strategy and get younger talent that has a chance to stick around. This one could be interesting.
Seems to be that GMKA will go dumpster diving again to get a mix of bottom six vet guys on one-year deals, which worked so well last season. He needs bodies and to spend a little $ to get to a respectable cap number, but he doesn't want the new additions to be our pretend top 6.
Yes, but now I think there has to be two blue chip prospects for any trade partner. Minnesota has Rossi & Boldy, but I highly doubt the Ducks will give up both Zegras and say Drysdale. Similarly, I don't see Byfield coming back with say Turcotte.
