  1. It's too bad it didn't go it, otherwise we could say "Great shot, kid, that was one in a million!"
  2. Pavelski is one of those freaks of nature....unbelievable how productive he is at his age.
  3. I don't agree with your viewpoint here....if I'm not mistaken, we gave up NOTHING to acquire Hall. Sure, maybe he didn't earn Pegula's money for a partial season, but it was only for 1 year (not several), plus we had the cap space to spend it. When he traded him, there was no salary retention. GMKA took a chance on a player who was still productive and not too old, in hopes his presence would improve the team. It didn't work out, maybe because of the horrible coaching we had. I think you would be more displeased if Hall was still here making $6MM a year for another few years.
  4. Something else I wonder about is that we no longer have a Sam Reinhart type net front presence. I miss his ability to deflect shots. I don't know if we have somebody with that same knack.
  5. 6 weeks on Miller?!?! Wow, not much time between a possible return date and the trade deadline.
  6. Still remember that evening. I think I was watching Ed Kilgore at the time. I can't remember his words, but to me it struck me as being something like "hold on to your butt". I remember some thinking that losing Derek Smith was going to be a big deal (not really though). Breaking up the tandem of Edwards and Sauve was a bigger deal to me. McCourt was the headliner, but obviously Foligno had the biggest impact. Brent Peterson was a good face-off guy for sure.
  7. Such an unfortunate season for him so far....starting the very first game and that slash he took. At whatever point he's healthy enough to play, I hope he can bring a spark to the club, especially the power play.
  8. Bad news on Kyle though....guess that hit along the boards was enough to put him on the sidelines a while.
  9. Speaking of Joki....Water under the bridge, but can you imagine if we had selected Charlie McAvoy instead of Alex Nylander. Granted that means Joki would not be here then, but I'd sure rather have McAvoy if we had it to do all over again.
  10. My expectation is that GMKA should be a seller and maximize whatever picks he can get for our UFA's. I have no illusion we'll challenge this season (or next) and so I'd prefer to get more picks and continue stocking the cupboard for the future. If he can swap some prospects in the process (ex. RHD), that would be excellent. We're at least two years away from challenging for the playoffs, so let's not give away 2nd round picks for mediocre older vets who are past their prime. If we buy, let's continue to use our cap space as a weapon and get more picks.
  11. I'm probably in the minority, but I loved these uni's back in the day. What I dislike more is our current blue uni's....old and boring for my taste. What can never EVER come back is the slugs!
  12. 2018 may be one of the most important draft years for Buffalo from a defenseman standpoint. Two of our top 4 defenders will be from that draft...assuming Samuelsson gets there (which he seems destined to become).
  13. Hey Ghost, if you don't already have them, I think you need something for each of our Sabre goalies when they steal a victory! Maybe a brick house for Houser tonight?
  14. I can't imagine this team without Alex Tuch now. He's quickly become indispensable in my mind.
  15. My memory may fail me, but I honestly can't think of the last time a Sabre "pick-pocketed" the puck from an opposing player and then scored a goal. The only thing I can think of is when rookie Jack Eichel kind of stole the puck from Boone Jenner in the Columbus zone and score an electrifying goal. There have to have been others since then, right?!?!
  16. Nice pick-pocket by Jankowski with his long reach...then cashed it in with a nice deke....he's been sneaky tonight in his limited ice time.
  17. My $.02, agree our D is not a strength. Ideally would like to see more of a true shut-down style RH defender out there to compliment either Dahlin or Power in the future. Maybe wishful thinking that a true "defensive defenseman" is easier to come vs. the second coming of Cale Makar, either via trade and/or draft.
  18. Agree. Having not seeing Ottawa for a while, my initial impression after only 2 periods is that they have better team speed and IMHO are maybe a year ahead of Buffalo in rebuilding. If they are ahead of us, then this year's Ottawa team still is not competing for a playoff spot either.
  19. Jankowski seems to be involved in some of the better scoring opportunities in the limited number shifts he's had. He and Tuch had a chance earlier in the period.
  20. Don't want to jinx anything, but Houser still playing well....seems to be seeing the puck well and rarely out of position tonight. Unfortunate rebound on the tie goal, but otherwise absorbing the puck effectively.
  21. Really wish Samuelsson was a right-handed D-man
  22. Shame...D could not prevent the rebound shot for the score. Joki and Eakin have to be better than that!
  23. Yes...we could easily be down 3 or 4 to 1 on the scoreboard.
