Great idea by management! Help instill the attitude that Buffalo is a sports town with elite caliber teams and culture. I don't know if any Bills players were there, but that could be icing on the cake for the Sabre newbies.

Something I continue to ponder....there seems to be a lot of opinions that the NHL lacks enough #1 caliber goalies. There also seems to be a lot of people who think that you don't spend a high draft pick (1st round or 2nd round) on one for various reasons including a long development timeline. I don't necessarily disagree with those opinions, but what intrigues me is what happened over time to weaken the goalie pipeline such that we no longer see 1st round picks and kids playing immediately in the NHL? I know it's been decades since we had a Tom Barasso situation, but why does it seem like few if any draft picks are able to make more immediate contributions in the NHL? What's changed?

Would be a shocker for sure...but he'll be 32 when the season starts and looking for more term than GMKA's signing history would suggest. Definitely adds an element we don't have though.

For what it's worth, OEL will turn 31 in a few days.

I don't have a crystal ball, but IMHO goaltending and injuries will dictate the final standings between these 3 teams next season. Obviously, better goaltending and/or depth of NHL talent will translate to more success.

Unless there was a reason he had to otherwise....I wish GMKA had held off on the Bishop trade. With the way some of these teams are spending on UFA's and extending their existing rosters, some have to be looking for ways (trading partners) to free-up cap space.

"Average" could be an improvement for us!

Hoping this guy can show some value on the penalty kills. I don't know him well, but wondering if he could be more effective than Joki on the PK?

Can't see GMKA trading or signing another goalie now, except maybe for Rochester. Comrie has a reputation for being a hard worker. Don't think GMKA is done for today, maybe still looking for a 4C before the day is done?

I don't understand the high grades for the 2018 draft. We had 1OA, Dahlin was the consensus #1 pick....what else were we going to do? Samuelsson I like, but the rest of the 2018 draft was a tire fire.

Are you thinking the player himself is a wasted pick (will never amount to anything) or rather when that player was selected (too early)?

Chicago fans may boo him as well. Some are pissed because the Buffalo trade didn't happen (thanks to Murray)..and so that 7th overall was then used to get DeBrincat instead.

I like Fitz's spirit, but his talent is borderline NHL caliber. Well suited for AHL play, but we need to find more NHL level RHD's.

Joki is not a top 4 D on most playoff caliber teams...but in our case he is because we don't have anybody better. I hope we can eventually do better and have him in the 3rd pairing where he is better suited.

I am glad he's coming back. I was skeptical at first, but he plays bigger than his size. I also thought he was nimble enough to play the right side when needed. If I had to choose between Bryson or Pilut returning......I pick Bryson.

I would not care so much except for the fact we expended a 1st rounder for him....GM JBOT wasted pick.

Maybe this can work in our favor if we are potentially shopping rights to Portillo. The league in general seems to be weak for elite netminders.

Part of me wishes Buffalo made that kind of a trade with Toronto.
