I have to wait one more day to pick up my new car. I ordered it back in late September and it just arrived at the dealer last Thursday, so I guess one more day won't hurt. At least the weather looks to be halfway decent....

Yeah, wow - watching the Sabres next season will be like getting a root canal and a vasectomy at the same time. Oh, I forgot - every draft pick will be spot on and in _____ (fill in the blank) seasons, we will be awesome. Please give me a wakeup call in time for the 50th Anniversary season; maybe we won't suck then.

I honestly don't care about who's right, who's wrong, etc., etc. All I see is a hockey "organization" that can't seem to find its a$$ with both hands. This situation is going to make the Sabres (and by extension, Buffalo) look even worse in the eyes of national media than they already do. There has been more melodrama surrounding this team in the three years since Pegula arrived than in the previous 41. (and that's saying a lot when one of the previous owners went to prison) How the hell are they going to convince any decent free agent to sign here when they can't even retain front office personnel? Oh, I forgot...they're going to build the team entirely with top draft choices. Until then, the on-ice product (and the fans) are going to suffer for at least another 5 - 7 seasons. At that point, the Sabres will be fortunate to have any fan base left. Who knows what the next drama will be?

Agreed - and now she's debased herself by smooching with Miley Cyrus at a recent concert. Sad... My complaint today - the f**king weather. The weather report last night said we'd have a "burst" of snow around rush hour this morning. Well, we have some full-blown lake effect and so far have about five inches on the ground. So, where was the "winter storm warning" or the "lake snow advisory"? Stupid meteorology......

That's BACK bacon....and you forgot the 24 of Molson..... ;)

Nope, M-B AMG. Woot!

Except that once started, they might not be able to get Marty to stop talking even when the next period begins....

I agree - plus she is the best player on the ice for the US. All kinds of hotness. :clapping:

Something awesome? My new car, which I ordered in late September, has now been built and is on a ship en route to the US. This is a low volume, high demand model and five months seems to be about the norm for time of order until delivery. I'm super-psyched - I just hope that the weather improves soon. The thing comes with summer tires and I don't want to shell out for winter tires/wheels until October...

Well, that's kind of what I'm getting at - who decides which are the "Big 6" holidays and which aren't? Is honoring two of our country's finest Presidents less important than honoring the US work force? (I'm guessing that Labor Day might be the next one to get rolled back to "minor" holiday status.) If the federal government says it's a holiday, as far as I'm concerned, it's a holiday....
-
The de-holidization of America. Next Monday is a well-recognized federal holiday (and is recognized by most, if not all states as well). On a conference call with two other groups, we were trying to schedule another call for early next week. I mentioned that Monday was a holiday and both other groups said that it was not a holiday for them. I've run into this same issue before when returning after the Columbus Day long weekend - I have angry voice mail wanting to know why no one was in our office. (Well, it WAS a holiday...) So, what constitutes a "real" holiday these days? How come everyone seems to be OK with Labor Day but not Columbus Day? Independence Day but not Presidents' Day? And to top it off, now stores are open on Thanksgiving (and they already have been staying open on New Years Day). What will be the next holiday to be "demoted" to an optional day off?

Good for Tim Thomas - I'm not advocating slahing players in the head, but a goalie should at least try to defend himself. If more goalies would give out the occasional chop to the ankles, far fewer would be getting run over in the crease. (Can you tell I used to play goal?)
-
If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Of course you would keep a player IF he was playing well. Leino isn't AND he hasn't since he arrived. Cut your losses, buy him out and move on...there are more fish in the sea.

Yes - trying to stay "friends" doesn't really ever seem to work (at least not well). I was in a pretty serious relationship with someone I thought was "the one" - she broke up with me saying she still wanted to be friends. We tried going to a movie together, dinner, etc. and it was OK as far as it went. But, after a few months of that, she wanted to...well, hop back in the rack because she was (ahem) "in need" and was not seeing anyone else at the time (in other words, the guy she dumped me for dumped her). I asked if this meant we were "back on" again. She said no. So did I. We pretty much stopped seeing one another, even as "friends". I don't regret saying "No". That being said, LGR, as much pain as this is causing now, think of how bad it would have been if the relationship had gone further. I know that's small comfort right now, but it is something to hold on to. Try to be strong. Soon, it will be Spring and you are now free to pursue...

Wow - you've really been put through the wringer lately. So sorry about everything - I hope things will begin to improve for you soon. (Maybe you need to get hold of a shaman or a medicine man and get your mojo turned around.) Please take care and know that we are all pulling for you!

"Increasingly Substantiated BS" rumor thread- 2014 Edition

So, I know Tim Murray hasn't been with the team for very long, but we have two deadlines (one before the Olympics, one after) barreling down on us and so far...nothing in the way of trades, signings or anything, really. So, are the Sabres just going to stand pat and let their FAs walk or what? I know many GMs are saying that they are looking for trades but nothing out there so far is workable. Is this going to be another trade-deadline bummer? -
GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Edmonton at Buffalo 2-3-14 at 7:00 PM EST

The person responsible for this post has been sacked... -
Yikes, what a dissappointing game. I watched the first quarter, some of the second quarter, the halftime show (which wasn't too bad) and about thirty seconds of the fourth quarter. The commercials were pretty lame for the most part (the funniest commercial I saw yesterday was on during the golf tournament, not the Super Bowl). Jeez, I might pursue a career in advertising because I had better ideas for commercials than most of what was on yesterday....

When you are looking for an air compressor, make sure it has a pressure gauge and a moisture filter (more important in the summer than now, but...) When air gets compressed, moisture gets "squeezed" out. Extra moisture can make your paint too runny. Also, don't scrimp on the airbrush. I've always been a Paasche fan but Badger and Aztek are good, too. When mixing up the paint, it should be the consistency of milk. That's about all I know. (I never painted a goalie masks, just racing car models...)

Yes, when he played for the Flyers. By the time he wore the Blue and Gold...not so much. Just a tough guy on the tail end of his career. Very true - unfortunately, his reputation followed him here and he took a number of barely-deserved penalties.

At least as important as who will be our #1 goaltender is a more bullet-proof defense. Many of the "soft" goals let in by both Miller and Enroth are as a result of a severe defensive lapse (or and out-and-out giveaway). As for the purported trade, Miller, Stafford and Leino go to the Johnstown Jets for Denis Lemieux and all three Hanson brothers. Let's hope the "hair" in Buffalo don't make Denis sick...

My most sincere condolences - I just lost my mom in November. She was 91 and a great Sabres' fan....

We had our blizzard already this winter - time to share the wealth...

I didn't think you could get a Moulson in Arizona - only Coors... -
The groom may have thought he was giving something meaningful to you - it's strange how people we know for a long time don't necessarily know our most important wants/interests. Example: A few years back, my friend of 50+ years gave me a cookie jar for my birthday. The cookie jar is a representation of a rather overweight dude on a motorcycle. Now, I am an overweight guy and I do ride a Harley. However, whomever sculpted the dude on the cookie jar did not do it in a flattering way. To make it worse, my friend said to me, "Hey, I just had to buy this for you! It looks just like you!". Well, it doesn't and I was a little hurt that my friend thought so. But, I accepted the gift and gave it all the consideration it deserves. It is still in the original box in my basement, just waiting for trash day.
