  1. I think this is a fair point. Recruited into BC as a safety, for sure. Beane/McDermott saw the potential to have him play LB in McDermott's defense. That vision turned out to be 20/20 and the choice was a terrific success. But, alas. As you say, it may have been too much for that frame to bear. He was a special player.
  2. Milano was/is one of the few (arguably at times the only?) Bills player on D who can make the so-called splash plays. Maybe Bernard can fill that role? I recall hearing stats last year for him that were impressive. And maybe Von can squeeze out a few in the winter of his career? Idk. Just a huge bummer.
  3. Milano reportedly has a torn bicep, which will require surgery. What an absolute bummer.
  4. I know it well, and miss it. I went to a wedding there in July, years ago. As I got out of the car that had picked me up at the airport, it was so weird to be shoo'd in from the heat (it was the mother of the bride, hailing us from the house) in a way that reminded me of being shoo'd in from the cold here in Buffalo in January.
  5. It is beautiful. But, yes - the ... hegemony that's developed is too much. (As it happens, I'm probably in agreement with most of the consensus of thought(s) there -- but I just can't effing stand a hegemony of any kind.) Cripes, the Rushdie attack. How awful. I was at another concert in the weeks/months that followed that incident. I don't recall picking up on significant changes.
  6. I had not been planning this - frankly forgot about it entirely - but I bought the tickets long ago as a gift. So I'm off to Chautauqua with my better half to see Melissa Ethridge and the Indigo Girls. Tomorrow, Friday. Listen, I have big respect for all of the artists who will perform. And I enjoy several songs from each artist's/duo's canon. But ... it's gonna be Chautauqua. And it's gonna be Ethridge and Indigo Girls. I am anticipating a very specific vibe. Not sure how it's gonna feel, exactly. Whatever the vibe is that a crowd of lesbian senior citizens generates, I guess? Lol. I reckon it'll be fun.
  7. I tried twice. It didn't take. Maybe third time's a charm? Now I need to go peruse.
  8. I was legit like "You'd dismiss the complaint because the plaintiff's name is Ryan? ... Huh ... [looks again] OH DEAR GOD BURN THAT KID'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE."
  9. Well, if his singing stinks, then probably skip it. But, for heaven's sake, let us not begrudge (musical) artists any commercial success they may have.
  10. The Matthews-era Leafs dealing with playoff futility may be the most enjoyment we Sabre fans can reasonably hope for in 2024-2025.
  11. It's August. Why not have some fun? I like it. (I mean - again - why not?! Just have fun.) The OL being on their heels is a bit concerning. But that unit should be solid. I'm wondering if the absence of schemes and a true game plan put them in bad positions.
  12. Can you also just grab MSG+ as a standalone app and put it on a Roku or whatever? I recall some - perhaps including @PASabreFan - saying there were problems with the MSG+ app/service/feed last season. For my part, I chased bootleg feeds for '23-24. I'm waiting for the reviews to improve on MSG+. (Or am I misinformed in that regard?)
  13. There is some visceral, reactive way in which a lopsided score always feels unpleasant. That said, our higher order thinking must prevail: Preseason NFL football means nothing, predicts nothing when it comes to a team’s success in the upcoming season. As for the offense needing to get on track: Will Allen even play in the next preseason game?
  14. arguably the greatest gif of all time
  15. Beefing boys can kindly stand down. This is the Bills 2024 thread. Let’s get some vibes popping.
  16. i do occasionally think about this team having both eichel and reinhart. just 2 excellent NHL players. it shows to go: building a successful NHL team is more complicated than assembling talent. the mix has to be right. and some of that mix involves not just types of talent and styles of game, but stages of career as well. ah well.
  17. That entire video with Stafford was funny and clever. (Who was the mystery guy working out in the background -- Myers?)
  18. i think i once found a gif of him giving the WTF wave -- this is more just his WTF look.
  19. On the pure meme tip, we probably deserved to enjoy more of the Fu Man Drew stuff. (I guess the team just needed to be better.)
  20. This is a fair observation and point. I also think that the online concept of a "meme" has started to evolve and expand in its meaning. At least I think it has. Such that the concept of a "trope" may be encompassed thereby. So I'm mostly thinking in terms of tropes. But if it were limited to pure memes, then I think the Derek Roy sausage grab photo would be at the very top of the charts.
  21. Dammit. I should have had this one. Probably my favourite.
  22. Terry’s meddling. Which recently feels like it’s turned more to “Terry‘s cheap” (the internal cap).
  23. Lol - I just can't resist a gratuitous opportunity to post a .gif from my favourite sketch comedy show ever.
  24. very much so. hopefully, they can figure out how to adapt, or even mitigate the problems. i moved my kid into college yesterday — northeast ohio. holy hell what a storm that was. they may be without power for a week or more.
