Not a matronly Black diva, but I endorse the gal for having a strong Irish last name.

It’s obviously speculative to some degree, but there’s reasoning behind it. The fact that he walked off the field and required no attention are also consistent with him being an ox and a competitive freak. And it’s not every hard hit from the Ravens games that I have in mind — it’s the ones where you can see a whiplash effect and his head forcefully hitting, bouncing off the ground. I do hope he’s okay. Things get no easier with the Jets D. That’s a tough unit.

I noticed that. I'm not sure if that was just an inadvertent side effect of the pirated highlight posted to YouTube (it will be shut down in short order, I'd think). The replays that I recall from the broadcast showed the hit's and fall's full effects.

I was connoting a probability as in “more probable than not,” but you already know that. Demonstrably false. It was a powerful push with Allen in an unusually vulnerable position, resulting in a wicked neck whip as his head bounced off the ground. Far from an ordinary hit. There was at least one other bad one from that game, although I can’t find a clip of it.

to my eye, allen looked weirdly off against the texans - right from the hop. he missed easy reads. he made inaccurate throws. he reverted to a player who only knew how to take the big shots and didn't know how to manage a game when the game called for management.
-
theorizing that allen was concussed against baltimore is, in fact, not a big reach. it's not even a reach. imo, it's a probability.

Hear, hear. Good to see you here. I wish the team were more promising. Ffs. It's Game 3. Just gross. Is there some clever YouTuber out there who can show me how other teams are doing PP zone entry? If memory serves, the Sabres surrendered two SH breakaways when the Devils dispossessed Thompson and then Quinn.

What a joke that "protocol" was. I'm concerned for the guy. There's online chatter that he was probably concussed in the Baltimore game. If so, it could help explain why he was so off, so erratic from the get-go against the Texans.

Ironically, the dude from that Captain Phillips movie resembles post ayahuasca retreat rodgers.

This is a slightly dated summary of teams' records in the week following the midseason firing of an NFL head coach.
-
Raiders fired Josh McDaniels last season and appointed Pierce as interim HC. They whooped the Giants the next week 30-6. Per the story linked below, that was the largest margin of victory in an NFL game following a midseason HC firing since 2015. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38829509/raiders-win-antonio-pierce-coaching-debut

Agreed wholeheartedly that teams are keying on Kincaid and taking their chances with the Bills’ mid WRs.

I don't think that would have happened, had the team gone the paper-waiver route in order to protect Reimer a bit longer.
-
There is something objectively funny about Adams (1) clearly having had Reimer as part of his goaltending plan for the season and (2) then losing him to waivers at the start of the season. Adams does not inspire confidence as a GM.

Do the Sabres make the playoffs this season (second edition)

I watched a lot of that hockey. Thompson, Cozens, Tuch. They’re just not *that* good. KA has each of them slotted too high in the pecking order based on the 2 centres’ outlier career years. Dahlin? A very nice player. Not a Norris candidate. I saw what the Sabres are supposed to be. It’s the Devils. They have a similar concept — but with better players at just about every spot. -
I presume they’re in just as good shape as the Devils. I think they look slow and behind the play because they lack confidence in what they’re doing. Or it’s because they don’t compete hard enough. Or it’s because the opposing players are better than them. It’s likely a combination of these factors.
