    I watched a bit of the Winnipeg game with my dad on Sunday and out of the blue he just asked "why do they keep calling that guy (Schaller) up?" I didn't really have an answer for him. I haven't been able to follow the Amerks at all, is there really nobody better down there to give a look to than Schaller?

    Lehner's AHL conditioning numbers look a lot like his NHL preseason numbers, which sucked. I don't think he's gonna get a lot of slack from the majority of the fans especially with his price tag.

    Did the Wings score on themselves? It looked like Reinhart barely touched it, if at all, on the second swing he had at it.

    Gionta took a poke at Holtby as he froze the puck and Wilson roughed him up until Bogosian came over and did a headlock takedown on him. They lost a fight the other day so he's gotta be tough.

    I'd love to see Kane drop the gloves (and I feel like he's been looking for an opportunity to do so but hasn't found one yet) but it gives me a little pause because the man is made of glass and I have no doubt he'd hurt himself even if he battered the guy he was fighting.

    Given the decline in glove dropping it's amusing to me that a team would call up a guy seemingly specifically to fight the Sabres.

    I thought it was the worst and most forced Yeichel attempt yet, but he's so authoritative with it now that he's obviously noticed some criticism/somebody told him it was really bad so he's doubling down on (I really wish he wouldn't).

    A game against the Sabres has proven to be just what the doctor ordered for a scoring drought.

    These announcers are mostly saving their talk of the player's background during stoppages in play, which is wrong - you're supposed to ignore the action on the ice to tell us where Tyler Johnson played junior hockey.

    While the back checking wasn't there for the Sabres, it was a hell of a pass from Filppula too. Right on the money across the ice to a guy who's not gonna miss.

    I'm going to remain skeptical of Lehner as The Guy until he actually plays. His preseason performance didn't inspire much confidence.

    I believe they were also projecting Chad for Sunday's start until Bylsma confirmed Ullmark was in. If it's "Probable" it's their guess until a source says something more concrete.

    My first reaction to hearing the news was "nice, my fantasy hockey opponent for this week won't be getting any points out of McDavid then" so I'm probably a bad person.
