It makes sense to move Eichel only after our HC is named so we can get guys that said coach likes or believes can coach in his system or build his system around. Personally I think the speculation that Eichel is just that, yes we have people calling about him and we're likely having the discussion yet think most teams won't pony up to our demands and Captain Jack will return for the start of the regular season.

We all do, as only means good things for our future. This offseason is going to do a lot to determine this team's future.

I know but like many I felt there were better players available at the time. Yet do give him credit for doing okay in Rochester last year. He might be better than give him credit for.

Girgensons was never really good, just over rated by many fans after he made the All Star game.

One would hope but then again they drafted Quinn last year to the shock of many.

Hall signed here in part because Eichel was here. All I'm saying is Tavares to me is a better player than Mariner so if moved Jack we need a better starting point.

Agreed I'd rather not deal him to Toronto all things considered.

He probably feels underappreciated as he can't get a long term deal and or not looked as to be in Jack, ROR, Kane level of important guys. He showed me something this season by finally playing Center as felt he'd be an ideal 2C since we lost ROR.

By getting Tavares you give other NHL players to want to come here. If we only takes picks and prospects we become undesirable to other players imo.

It does if you don't want to continually be a bottom feeder.

He's still for close a point a game and give us a 1C again it's the start it take a few prospects and picks not a 1 for 1.

How else can you see Toronto taking on Eichels contract?

I could only see us trading him to Toronto if got Tavares and more.

I think Zegras a must get if Eichel is going to Anaheim, pairing him with Comtois, a prospect and pick to me likely the best we can expect which to me fair.

Paul doesn't care for the Sabres too much. He's certainly a lot saltier now then he was when he first started. Personally I don't like his reporting now.

If Eichel and Sam would get neutralized why would other teams trade for them? Sorry I can't agree, when healthy, Eichel is a top 10-15 player in the NHL. Sam maybe in the top 30-40. Moving on from your two best players not the wisest of moves in a team that struggles to score even with them here. I understand if either one really have issues playing here you move them but moving them for asking of making a move to try and ignite something new isn't smart. You get better by surrounding your talent with better talent.

Even after we traded for him we later traded for Fuhr. You have to wonder how'd things go if had Andreychuk and 1st Rounder we gave Toronto.

To be fair Sam and Jack are two of the better players we've had through this whole tank situation. The problem was other guys didn't step up or got jettisoned out of there too quick and didn't get fair compensation for moving on from them (see ROR and Kane). Yet until we find a bonafide top end goalie we're not going anywhere.

Part of the reason the tank failed was we never found a goalie, which we still haven't. Ullmark might be good enough yet not sure I give him top 15 money just yet. I mean how many points did we lose because Lehner couldn't stop a shootout goal? That said the tank was designed for McDavid moreso Eichel. That said not sure even McDavid do us any better as guys like Okposo and Bogo not living up to expectations.

I agree, I don't mind losing Risto at this point but Eichel and Reinhart to me are keepers unless someone ends up giving us a top 6 player and more in return.
