  1. https://www.hudl.com/products/instat
  2. would prefer Malenstyn
  3. I believe strongly that Ruff taking the job was contingent on the fact that Skinner would not be part of the team moving forward. Ruff talks about not immediately jumping at the opportunity when he first spoke with KA... so it would seem that Lindy initially had some reservations, which KA likely promised to address.
  4. Over the past few decades, the league has introduced a number of rules to discourage fighting.. instigator penaly (1992) aggressor penalty half-shield requirement (AHL 2006, NHL grandfathered in 2013) penalty for voluntarily removing your helmet before a fight (2019?) penalty for unattached fight strap (2010's ?) ..combine all the above with the introduction of a salary cap in 2005, and there's really no more roster space for goons. But yeah, I get it... most folks would rather watch all-star game type skill competitions instead of a mix of skill, toughness and fighting. From a business standpoint (revenue) the league is doing their best to make the game more attractive to a larger fan base and grow the game.. which is fine, but for me personally, the product on the ice is not as entertaining as it once was. Hockey used to require some minimum level of toughness, or you didn't play. That's no longer the case, and that sadness me a bit.
  5. In this modern version of the sport, fighting is pointless. Back in the day those guys filled a role and it was the only way they could stay employed.
  6. Sad. Spent many many nights there in the early 90s.
  7. I miss 80's and 90's hockey. Today's game feels like watching an All-Star game... a bunch of skill guys buzzing around trying to out skate and dangle each other. Head-down? Doesn't matter... it takes zero courage or toughness to succeed as a professional hockey player, just make sure your parents pay enough for private lessons when you're playing youth hockey. Can't afford private lessons? Find another sport. The days of out hustling, out hitting, playing with reckless abandon to fill a role are gone. As a result, the game is now more popular with a different crowd... those who didn't like the aggressive nature of the sport and simply enjoy watching the speed and skill. And that's OK. That said, I hope Lindy adds 1 or 2 throwback type players to the 4th line... Tom Wilson, Garnet Hathaway, Dakota Joshua types.
  8. Dunleavy is OK, but they need a better color guy.
  9. Don't trade out of the spot just because you have a strong group of similar prospects in your pipeline. Always take BPA.
  10. keep tage off the PK so he doesn't break his hand and play 75% of the season injured
  11. Just throwing this out there... Trevor Connelly is a top 5 talent. He's a Kyle Connor clone. I understand the baggage, but he's made a complete 180 from where he was 5-6 years ago. His character development has been outstanding and he's been a model teammate. What doesn't get talked about enough is the effort he's put in to learn from his mistake... the volunteer work, taking classes, speaking with various groups, etc.. Sure, he can't undo what he did and he has to live with that, but he's done everything in his power to learn from his mistake and he's a better person today because of it. I have no concerns about his character, and he's an uber talented kid.. he'd been a steal at 11.
  12. Graduated from Canisius High School, went to Michigan to study creative writing, wrote two horror novels and worked at a Christmas tree farm. https://www.linkedin.com/in/amir-gulati/ ...sounds a bit over qualified for this organization.
  13. Peguala told Kevyn to tell Lindy to talk to Appert.
  14. My source tells me the league is "encouraging" Toronto to deal Matthews to Utah.
  15. Quinn?
  16. He looked better in Buffalo than he does in Rochester.
  17. I was impressed with how well he held up physically. Normally you would expect an 18yo to hit a wall at some point during the season. He may have had a bit of a scoring slump, but effort level was very consistent.
  18. Things have to be done in a certain way in order to give your team a chance to consistently win hockey games at the NHL level. Ruff knows those things.
  19. The majority of candidates he spoke with probably told him right off the bat that they weren't interested... "Buffalo Sabres Head Coach" is not known as an enviable position around the league unfortunately.... it's where head coaches go to die.
  20. 1. Get Tage off the PK. It was a dumb idea, you don't put your leadng scorer on PK1. IIRC he hurt his hand on the PK. A healthy Tage completely changes the PP. 2. Schematics... more traffic at the net front and more than 1 or 2 breakout/zone entry options. 3. Better practice habits, more attention to detail, sense of urgency.
