  1. Not true. Rolston had 12 years coaching at the NCAA D1 level before heading up the NTDP U17 team and then being hired as Amerks head coach. Granato had 13 years coaching experience (USHL/AHL) before heading up the NTDP U17 team. Their backgrounds are very similar, they're the same age, both played in the WCHA at the same time, and had short careers in the ECHL. It's just more of the classic Sabres "let's keep doing the same thing over and over and hope it works out this time" mentality.
  2. Aren't most NHL players a "better Zemgus"?
  3. Do better. This is Ron Rolston part duex... they're basically the same person (same USA hockey background). The only difference being Rolston went 15-11-5 (35pts) to end the 2012-13 season before being hired full-time, whereas Granato went 9-16-3 (21pts) over about the same number of games (28 vs 31). If he's hired, what that tells me is simply that no other qualified candidates wanted to come here.
  4. The fact they're trying to get another top 10 pick tells me they highly value somebody who they may not be comfortable taking number 1 OA, like Johnson, Guenther, or Eklund. I predict Beniers will slip in this draft so he might be around as well.
  5. Should I force my 15yo to get vaccinated?
  6. Chances are just as good they have Power #1.
  7. It's more likely 3OA, Dostal, and Comtois. Maybe add a guy like Josh Manson, but they're not getting 3OA AND Zegras IMO.
  8. Perfect buy low opportunity. The Ducks defense in front of him is absolutely abysmal... they rank near the bottom of the league in high danger chances against the past few seasons. He's constantly under siege. Having watched him in person over the past 5 years, I would rate him at top 5 goalie across the league.... sure he had a down year, but it's a perfect opportunity to buy low IMO. That said, I'd be shocked if ANA parted ways with him in an Eichel deal... It would make little sense for them to do so since the whole idea of trading for Eichel is accelerate their rebuild. It's more likely a guy like Lukas Dostal is part of the deal than Gibson.
  9. Gibson is only 27, he's prolly got at least 8-9 good years left. He's a stud.
  10. ....or anybody else for that matter
  11. It's gonna be something underwhelming like Eichel and Risto to ANA for a Troy Terry, Josh Manson and a 1st. Or Iaffalo, Walker and a 1st. I would be shocked if a top prospect is part of any package. Why? Because there's a perception around the league (based on my conversations with local team personnel as well as a prominent member of an NHL franchise in the northwest who still resides here in OC) that Eichel is the laziest player in the league, is injury prone and has other non-hockey related off ice issues.
  12. all those eichel jerseys... smh
  13. Sure it is, that's the scouting departments main purpose... to evaluate and rank the prospects.
  14. "preparing for another top 10 pick"? what does that even mean? ALL teams should be evaluating ALL the prospects regardless of current draft position.
  15. California officially "re-opened" today. All businesses allowed to fully reopen at full capacity. Masks no longer required if you're vaccinated, but nobody is allowed to ask if you're vaccinated 🤷🏻‍♂️
  16. Oh ok, thought it was new. I had no issue with them meeting face to face to discuss the off-season game plan.
  17. Sad that the GM has to bounce literally everything off the owner. Let KA do his damn job.
  18. Maybe they can't do better than Granato... sad. With the roster largely up in the air it will be hard to attract top candidates.
