Rack up another 2 points for the good guys! Can we already count tomorrow's game as a win? No way in hell BUF is even in that game. Hackett should get the nod but wouldn't be surprised to see him get pulled at some point.

Damn another loss. Thought Lindback was OK. Larsson and Ristolainen both are looking better and better every game. Weber is not an NHL defenseman. Needed more from Foligno and Grigorenko.

Who will the bottom 2 teams be? ARI with Eichel or McDavid will be better, EDM is already getting better this season. CAR? CBJ? Both teams are better than Buffalo and I don't see Buffalo passing them next season without McEichel. A full season with Lindback/Hackett? Reinhart will be a rookie, there really isn't anybody else in the pipeline that can provide immediate help. And they may have a new head coach as well. I just don't see any team being worse than BUF. BUF is just hitting rock bottom after the deadline, they have no veteran assets left to trade for picks and whatnot. This is the bottom, it's up from here, but I don't see enough changing over the summer for this team to climb itself out of cellar just yet. Reinhart needs AHL minutes, so does Bailey and Compher and Fasching.... those are all key pieces, but not next season.

That if they don't get McDavid or Eichel they'll be bottom 2? Sure I'll bet something, what?

Think of it like this. Whoever gets Eichel and McDavid will be better next season. If Buffalo doesn't get either of those players, they'll be in the bottom 2 next season as well so... uhh.... where was I going with this?

ARI will NHL win their next three games (all at HOME). BUF will NHL lose their next three and the spread will be up to 9 when we met them next week. Everybody needs to just calm the down.

Reinhart will likely be assigned to Rochester this season.... or maybe even the Sabres bring him up after Kootenay's season is over which could be by the end of the month.

So many things could happen... finish last, lose the lottery, pick Eichel, he goes back to school or gets injured, sucks or whatever, concussions... see Patrik Stefan. finish 3rd win the lottery, pick McDavid, due to insurmountable pressure alcoholism and drug abuse do him in by 25 years old after signing the richest contract in league history.... see Alexandre Daigle. finish 3rd lose the lottery, pick Marner 4th, he leads the NHL is scoring by the time he's 25. finish 2nd, pick 3rd, take Hanifin who becomes the next Paul Coffey and leads us to 3 consecutive Cups. finish 2nd, lose the lottery, pick 3rd, trade with EDM/ARI to move up to the #2 spot as both those teams desperately need a player like Hanifin on the back-end. ARI might do this deal if we include our 2016 1st rnd pick since ARI is all in on Auston Mathews. ...bottom line, is it's not the end of the world if BUF doesn't finish last. There are other things that can happen, and with the draft lottery less than 4 weeks away, we'll have plenty of time to wheel and deal before the draft.

It's not like Buffalo is playing well. BOS had 73 shots directed to the net, BUF had only 34. I'm still not worried. Things will even out over the final 12 games and BUF will find itself in the basement.

Be prepared for lots of mysterious injuries leading up the ARI/BUF Basement Battle of 2015.

Looking like the two games vs ARI could decide The Shart. Next 4 for ARI COL, PIT, VAN, @DET. 5 of 8 CHL points would be gimongus. BUF next 4 @BOS, NJD, @NSH, @DAL. 6 of 8 CHL points at worst. That would put ARI 6 down of BUF heading in to the first matchup at BUF.

Big night in the CHL, top 3 teams in action. EDM with the toughest matchup of the night could lose some ground to BUF. WSH @ BUF With regular backup Justin Peters battling a lower-body injury, Holtby could get the start again tonight. He is 4-2-1 lifetime against the Sabres with a 2.92 goals against average and .887 save percentage. With an average of 1.79 goals versus 3.32 allowed, the Sabres' minus-1.53 differential is the worst since the 1999-00 Atlanta Thrashers posted a minus-1.74. TOR @ EDM The Oilers begin a 6 game homestand (TOR, CBJ, PHI, WIN, COL, DAL) tonight vs TOR. Edmonton has the league's best power play since the All-Star break and the Maple Leafs own the worst. Oilers defenseman Nikita Nikitin could be back after missing the last 20 games with a shoulder injury. ARI @ LAK Arizona is averaging a league-worst 1.65 goals for since the All-Star break. The Coyotes (21-40-8) have been outscored 23-8 during their current road slide as they try to avoid dropping seven in a row on the road for the first time in a single season since a 0-6-1 stretch to close 2006-07. The Kings have killed off 38 of opponents' last 40 power plays. The Coyotes still have one of the league's better power plays at 20.8 percent, though that unit is 3 for 30 over the last 13 games.

They should get paid, but also be required to do so many hours of volunteer work every semester. They're getting a free education, but they're also making money for the school. Give them a piece of that pie, but also require them to give back to the community or they forfeit their pay.

Skapski starting in net tonight for the Rangers. Are you kidding me with this ? Why does the league allow this? How many starting goalies have Sabres fan seen on home ice this season? Anyway, ARI hosting the NJD tonight. And EDM hosting TOR tomorrow. (first game of a 6 game home stand for the Oil) Advantage BUF.

Which team will be worse than Buffalo next season? Arizona? Zona is likely all in for their own homegrown Auston Matthews in the 2016 draft. That's likely their target. Carolina might be worse than they were this year too, but I do see EDM improving. Still expect Buffalo to finish bottom 4 next season, and with the first 3 picks decided by lottery, anything can happen. Bottom line tho is that BUF has no more veteran pieces to sell-off... so it's all building from here on out, however they'll still suck next season.

I still expect BUF to gain more separation by the end of the month.... somehere in the 8-10 points up on EDM and 12-14 on ARI.

CBJ and CAR are 20 points out. Is it safe to remove them? CAR plays 9 of their next 11 on home ice, two of those 11 vs CBJ. CBJ with only 3 of their next 10 at home, I expect them to blow by CAR in the standings here over the next 2-3 weeks. What a great season, things still tight at the top heading into the final stretch... great for the league and the fans. Bad for my hairline. Chance of Buffalo finishing in 30th is now 81% as per http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHLlottery.html.... ARI with only a 5% chance.

15 games left after tomorrow, let's look at the next 5 for the top 3. ARI: CHI, NJD, @LAK, COL, PIT 4 home games, could pickup NHL points against NJD and COL. EDM: @PIT, @CBJ, TOR, CBJ, PHI Could pickup NHL points vs TOR, CBJ and PHI. BUF: @TOR, NYR, WSH, @BOS, NJD Possible NHL points vs TOR and NJD. Might not gain any ground on ARI, however EDM has some softies on home ice. .

EDM @ CAR This potential one point martchup features two of the leagues heavy weights. It was only 9 years ago these two franchises met in the Stanley Cup finals. Pulling for EDM OT loss here.

Nice. Starting to get some separation. I expect them to stretch out their lead over the next two weeks.

It think it's worse than it is now. The last place team (or 2nd or 3rd last) could pick 4th? What justice is there in that? Let's say you finish in 4th, 3 teams behind you get the top 3 picks. Suddenly you're picking 7th. Fair? Hardly. I hate draft lottery systems because it means you have to get lucky to improve your team. They don't do it in football and it's worked fine for decades in the NHL.
