He's still young and learning how to play defense in this league. His skillset as a defenseman is off the charts. He'd be a huge upgrade moving forward. I see him as a faster, quicker version of Dan Boyle.
-
Some, but certainly not all. I understand where JD is coming from.
-
I like Pysyk too, but lets face it, we've set the bar awfully low these past few seasons for what we consider quality defensemen. He has good agility, but like most of the defensemen on this roster, he's slow and won't win many puck races back into the zone. IMO Ennis, Pysyk and (I'm guessing) a 3rd... isn't enough to land Drouin if I'm Stevie Y.
-
Risto while he's hot. Great trade? Or greatest trade?
-
...and BUF has three 3rds this year, so I could easily see that happening.
-
Yeah, I think McGinn is a better player too, but Stewart had more potential because of his size and the fact he scored 28 goals with the Avs when he was a 22 y/o. Min was hoping he'd regain that form playing with better offensive talent than what the Sabres had to offer.... we all know how that worked out. That said, McGinn is older and hasn't scored 20, he's been traded twice now and doesn't have great size or play a strong defensive game.
-
We only got a second for Stewart. I don't think anybody will value McGinn higher than Stewart at that time.
-
He's good at blocking shots, that's about it. He loses way too many battles and races for my liking.
-
No way. A 15-18 goal scoring minus player doesn't fetch a first.
-
I think there are plenty of teams will to take a chance on him. Anaheim would be a good fit, maybe a McGinn + Ennis deal for a guy like Theodore or Ritchie. If ANA can fix their scoring woes, they're a Cup favorite so I expect they'll deal some future assets for immediate help.... that is, assuming they strike out on Drouin.
-
McGinn is getting traded, he's as good as gone, no doubt in my mind, and rightfully so. He will be a key piece for a playoff team looking to add depth to their lineup, so I expect at least a 2nd in return, which is fair. A 1st just isn't going to happen. But there's nothing that says he also can't be part of a larger deal for more significant pieces coming back in return.
-
whaaaat?! Nice plan to counter the Av's speedy lineup, take out your fastest defenseman for the slug Gorges. I can't possibly figure out what's going through DBs mind in this case.
-
Hope DB does the right thing and sits Gorges.... at least until his contract is up or he's traded.

No, not to protect the sanctity of the ASG, that's just dumb. He should've declined to give a more deserving teammate a chance to go, literally anbody else on his team was more deserving of that spot, but he had to be selfish and take it from a guy like Shane Doan who has given his heart and soul to a hockey town for his entire career, who may be on his final tour of the NHL... would've been a great honor for him to represent the Coyotes at the ASG. But no, let's give that honor to a big doufus like Scott, way to go NHL... I'm sure his teammates on the Coyotes respect him for that.... loser.
-
Right, he should have declined from the get go and let a guy Shane Doan take part since he has very little time left in the league and he's much more deserving this season. Most hockey players are bros like that, but not John Scott. Yes, the NHL put themselves in this position, but the trade handled it for them... they had an out, but no... god forbid they piss off the fans who want to see John Scott at the all-start game... because there's literally dozens of them... DOZENS!
-
Terrible, terrible move. So many more deserving players on ARI. Scott should've declined the invite from the get go, what a jerk.
-
I'll say they finish with 79 points in 27th (4th) place, which gives them a 58% chance of a top 5 pick. You're on.
-
he has a NTC.... buying him out would save $2mil against the cap (for 2 seasons), but he wouldn't completely come off the books until the 2022-23 season. http://www.generalfanager.com/buyouts/321?day=15&year=2016

When Buffalo is on a hot streak, they jump up a few spots in the range of 25th place. When they're not hot, they're a bottom 2 team..... so they yo-yo between 30th and 25th. A 5th or worse place finish is all but guaranteed my friend.
-
I can't speak for what they provide this team off the ice, but on the ice they're a liability. To me this is a huge failure on GMTMs shoulders. There are plenty of vets in the league who still contribute to the on ice success (Jagr, Campbell, Doan, Sedins, W. Mitchell, etc..).
-
They need speed on the back-end, so I'm gonna say..... Risto - Barrie (pending RFA on team with financial issues) McCabe - Pysk Bogo - ???? Gorges, Franson, and Weber should be gone... if any of them are still around next season I'll be mildly annoyed, but not surprised.

CJ in the cage... well deserved, but I have a feeling we'll see Lehnerd at some point during this game. Arizona has some firepower.
