  1. Yep, and honestly the hit didn't look that bad to me even on replay. Tage put himself in a bad spot, he exposed himself leading with his head... not excusing the hit, but it there was no elbow thrown and he didn't leave his feet. Still dirty but have seen much much worse.
  2. Huge overreaction by the media and fanbase imo. First, nobody knew what happened until the replay, who was it, was it clean? The players on the ice didn't know either, how do you expect them to respond? Even the refs needed replay. Challenging someone to a fight after a big hit is absolute garbage, it needs to be removed from the game. You don't like the hit? Hit them back, it's allowed! A finesse/smaller player pretending to fight isn't showing a backbone. I cringe everytime Krebs steps in and gets ragdolled, it's a joke. The team as a group elevating their physicality is the proper response. Get his number and put a target on them the rest of the game, tell your physical players to go out of their way to hit him every chance they get. Lastly, they're at the bottom of the standings yet again in a season where playoffs were the target. Their "lack of repsonse" in this situation isn't the problem here.
  3. They won, but didn't think they played all that well.... still no sense of urgency on defense, lost battles, puck watching and lack of awareness in their own zone. Looked sloppy and unorganized most of the game, poor decisions with the puck, etc. Same old same old.
  4. It's a mental thing... it will pass.i Right now it seems they're more comfortable with a 1 goal lead rather than a 3 goal lead. That's how hockey goes sometimes. I'm not concerned.
  5. 3p weekday game here on the west coast? strange. Pay attention to Carolina... watch how much urgency they play with on defense, all 5 players, on the puck AND away from the puck. They give up the 3rd fewest scoring chances per game. Then watch Buffalo defend, slow feet, poor awareness, puck watching, guys away from the puck just standing still in an area... no sense of urgency.
  6. "something else" They don't hate to lose enough. The urgency to defend is not there. I've said it in another thread... there's levels to hating to lose. They don't hate it enough, and it shows in their urgency to defend and decision making.
  7. I've seen him several times at the Ice Den Scottsdale as an employee of the Coyotes (wearing coyotes branded gear) and hanging out with the team brass. My boys were there often for tournaments over the years and at the time the Ice Den was the Coyotes practice facility. I want to say that was sometime around 2017-2019. I remember being surprised to see him as he was just recently llet go by Buffalo and hadn't heard any news about his hiring anywhere else.
  8. They're OK with losing, doesn't bother them too much.
  9. where was this guy the first 30 games?
  10. Quinn all over the score sheet early
  11. Talent? Yes. Compete level? No. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
  12. It was going to take about 20 games with a new head coach to understand who this team was. I was at game #20 in Anaheim. They won and beat the Sharks the next day, sitting in 3rd place in the division. Then they go and lose every single game for a month straight. What seems evident, is the players they've drafted and developed over the years... the Quinn's, Peterka's, Power's etc.. all seem very similar. Statistical darlings as junior players... probably great analytics, but one thing analytics can't measure is competitiveness and the desire to win. Losing doesn't seem to bother these guys enough and that's a problem. You look at Colorado's bench when they were down 2 or 3 goals and their leaders look pissed off, guys yelling slamming sticks, those guys just absolutely hate to lose. Not so much for the Sabres.... losing is not as big of a deal to each of them on a personal level. They look somewhat disappointed, but they don't "hate to lose" as much as the guys they're lined up against. You can hear it in Lindy's post game pressers... making comments about guys not getting to spots quick enough to prevent scoring chances. Guys that hate to lose find a way to get those spots and prevent those scoring chances, these guys just don't care enough. Maybe they think they do, but they don't.... there's levels to hating to lose and they're probably near the bottom of the league.
  13. They need to go on a run before I even consider it a possibility. Too many teams to jump. If they can close the gap from 6 down to 2 points over the next 20 games, then it gets interesting.... it might not seem like much, but there's 7 teams to jump, some will get hot and I believe it's much more likely Buffalo is closer to 10 points out after the next 20 games.
  14. Patience. Rome wasn't built in a day. It takes time to develop as a defenseman. Year 5 he'll learn how to stick lift. Year 6, body checking. How are the Caps 1st place in the Eastern Conference? They don't look impressive at all.
  15. Every time they show a player on the bench Appert is in their ear.
