  1. So I picked up a Sous Vide deal during Amazon primeday yesterday. I'm looking forward to giving it a try this weekend...combined with my Big Green Egg I'm going to be dangerous!
  2. I'd make it 6 games. The guy cheated, man up and take your medicine, you're going to win the division anyway even with missing the full four games.
  3. So speaking of pepper beers, I forgot this was left in my cooler by a buddy at the beach last week. I'm about to pour and drink while grilling some lamb chops. Will report later. That was an an absolutely fantastic beer. Fresh jalapeƱo aroma in the nose and in flavor with zero heat. Reading the can they remove all the seeds before adding to the beer to accomplish this. I'm definitely going to seek out more.
  4. Absolutely. She's more than a bit loony in more ways than one.
  5. My old neighbor is baptist, nice guy and never saw him drink a drop of alcohol. One day a few of the other neighbors and I were out on our street after work shooting the over a few beers when the baptist neighbor walks up and starts talking with us. Eventually he gets offered a beer and accepts. A few minutes later his wife pulls up and you can see him getting visibly nervous while trying oh so hard to keep his cool in front of the guys. His wife parks the car and marches right over to us and the following emasculation takes place.. Neighbor: Hi honey! Wife: Honey??!!! Honey???!! I don't even recognize you with that BEER in your hand!!! Neighbor: Hands his beer off and dejectedly walks into the house. I really felt bad for the guy, he was on deep lock down after that incident.
  6. Triangle brewing in Durham makes a great Habanero Pale Ale. Most of the pepper beers I've had have been home brewed, but there are craft brew versions for sure.
  7. I went to a concert a few weeks ago in Raleigh on a Wednesday night, and not surprisingly there was no problem getting an Uber ride to take myself and a buddy out to the suburbs for a night cap. At about 1 am I needed a ride home about 5 miles away..so I fired up my Uber app and there was a ride 10 minutes away even on the deserted streets of Apex, NC. I paid a premium for the fare of course, but much cheaper than a DWI.
  8. When I was 24.....I hadn't signed the richest contract in Sabres history. Shape up youngster.
  9. Yep. This is what our successful two complete tank seasons were all about. Two elite, stud centers to build around.
  10. Stopped by the bottle shop near work during lunch and picked up a Gratzer beer by New Belgium / Three Floyds. I've only had this style as a homebrew before, but I enjoyed it a lot. It's a very rare style that originated in Poland.. a smoked beer that is light in color, hops and alcohol (~ 4%). I'll be enjoying it on the porch later tonight.
  11. Another great domestic sour is La Folie from New Belgium. I went on the tour in Colorado a few years ago and they had samples of the base brown ale and then the fantastically complex soured version afterwards. Awesome.
  12. Rodenbach is a good one that you can find in craft beer stores. Wicked Weed in Asheville has a great sour beer program as does Russian River, but I'm certain you can't get them in WNY....yet.
  13. I've had the Blood Orange Gose from Anderson Valley. Good stuff.
  14. That's similar to how I find new music to listen to these days. I usually have some music streaming through Google music at night on the porch on a radio station made based on artists that I already enjoy. When a song comes on that catches my ear I add it to my "New Music I Like" playlist and dive deeper into those bands from there. A band I am into recently as a result of this process is Blackberry Smoke. Highly recommended if you enjoy Skynyrd / southern rock. I assume you mean the country-pop tripe. I despise that stuff as well, but there are some great alt-country/americana bands out there these days. Jason Isbell formerly of Drive By Truckers is one of my favorites.
  15. Just finished Bloodline. Finished Daredevil before that. Both were excellent...so what next?
  16. Yep. Regier himself had to know that even though he prepared the fans for "suffering", he just couldn't survive it when rhetoric met reality. It was certainly time for him to go, but I give him credit for starting the process and basically giving his successor no choice but to continue nuking the roster. It had to be done.
  17. I just finished mowing the lawn, a perfect time for a PBR....but my neighbor who supplies it is at the beach. New Belgium Ranger IPA it is.
  18. We had no one to tell us last night about body language and where the Sabres brass stood on stage with Eichel and what that means in regard to Pegula and his cronies meddling ways.
  19. I agree only if he doesn't live up to Murray's vision, which I also agree is more likely than not. I'm grudgingly willing to give Mr. ZFG the benefit of the doubt until the tale is told.
  20. Murray loves Lehner. Absolutely loves him and believes fully he will bring Price/Lundqvist level play to Buffalo. He may be right and he may be wrong, but until then and only then can a final assessment be made on this trade.
  21. Out of maybe 20 TVs in there, only one had the draft on. The three guys I was standing directly behind definitely knew what I was talking about. I'm not sure if those on the other side of the large square bar did, but they could definitely hear me.
