  1. Really going out on a limb there fellas with the 7-9 and 8-8 predictions!
  2. So my brother in law won his first web.com tournament last weekend in over a hundred and something tries. This puts him in great position to get his PGA tour card back....and once again hearing all those baba booeys :nana: http://www.ottawasun.com/2016/04/10/manoticks-brad-fritsch-wins-webcom-tour-event And speaking of tata toothy, one place you typically never hear any of that stuff is at the Masters, but I did hear one last week on Sunday during Spieth's meltdown. Apparently doing that at the Masters not only gets you immediately ejected, but they also can suspend or expel the member who sponsored your ticket. I went to the Masters a few years ago and although it's pretty raucous down by the concession stands and restrooms, they don't put up with any nonsense on the course. I'm not sure if they caught the guy, but he had to be close to the tee box because it was loud and clear. One absolutely beautiful thing about the Masters? It's probably one of the last places on earth where thousands of people gather....and not a single one has a cell phone.
  3. The late 7Os Bronx Zoo Yankees didn't get along.
  4. I'm a little more optimistic than that. If their plan is to dumb things down to blue moon level, they might as well just shut down the operation.
  5. Wow, that is disappointing. Fantastic Vienna lager and schwarzbier, two styles you rarely see, let alone done well. I know Goose Island has been ok since being bought by AB, but still....
  6. Essentially the same chance of moving into the top 3 as we had of winning the lottery last year. I want top 3 just as much for the F you it gives to the NHL, as for the high end talent it would mean.
  7. Yeah I was tempted by this model awhile back, but ultimately held off. The Weber at $400 more is such a head scratcher, I guess they figure the Weber Summit name allows for commanding such a premium.
  8. So weave...if you were to decide to spend over $1k on a charcoal grill/smoker, would you get the new Weber or one of these at an even $1k? http://amazingribs.com/bbq_equipment_reviews_ratings/grill-smoker-combination-grill-smoker/meadow-creek-sq36
  9. I think the new system discourages full season real honest tanks like we did last year. However, it also probably encourages more teams to purposely try to the bed post trade deadline to get a better shot at those top 3 picks that are up for grabs.
  10. I'm basing it on my expectation that they'd be solidly bottom 10 and the bet I made with Assquatch. Given that I can still lose that bet with two games remaining I won't call them a solid bottom 10 regardless of where they finish.
  11. They've exceeded my expectations. Not sure how anyone could have realistically expected much more than the 80-ish points they will end up with.
  12. Of course they are trying to get attention, such as it is. He also says it doesn't bother him at all. I'm more annoyed by actual athletes who are me, me, me..than I am by some tool shouting out harmless stuff to get his voice on TV.
  13. To wrap up the whole baba booey stern thing, here is a clip where Howard asks golfer Jason Dufner what he thinks about the shout outs and then gets him to admit who is considered a "bad guy" on the PGA tour.
  14. I completely understand the kid safety factor, but cleanup is no different between say a Weber one touch system kettle and a gasser. Scrape and oil grate while hot and you're done.
  15. That seems to be the consensus that I've been reading. A lot of folks are hoping for Muffy to buy Chet one for Fathers day, but Chet soon gets tired of the hassle of charcoal grilling and some half price grills show up on Craigslist next year.
  16. Golf can use the baba Booeys and other shout outs as long as it doesn't interfere with play. That stuffy atmosphere can use more Happy Gilmore IMO. And once again my original point wasn't about individual preferences, I fully realize how polarizing Stern is. The contention was made that he's somehow irrelevant, which the article that d4rk linked very nicely disproved better than I can.
  17. Well the new Weber Summit charcoal grill is out, and although it looks like it has some cool technology and could put out some super serious BBQ, I think Weber missed the mark here. At $1500-$2000 it's just too expensive. Heck, big green eggs are already considered too expensive and you can pick up an XL for less than the base model charcoal Summit. http://www.weber.com/grillofalifetime
  18. So we're going to continue with the anecdotal personal preferences as evidence I guess then. If Stern leaves then I cancel my subscription that day as I honestly listen to nothing but Howard 100/101 on SiriusXM. So what? The big money contract that he just re-upped for the third time tells the tale in terms of what Stern means to that company, otherwise they would have cut bait quicker than you can say Matt Moulson.
  19. That is a great article and captures exactly what Stern has evolved into, the best interviewer there is bar none. So some longtime fans are pissed that he doesn't have strippers on the show or refer to the mentally disabled as "retards" anymore. Whatever. I've been listening since the early 90's and the show is better than ever IMO. As far as who's listening these days? The same as it always was....... fans and haters alike.
  20. You don't like the guy I get it, and again that's not the issue. Relevance =/= people you like. I see the Variety article you're referring to, and sampling issues aside, if much of the data in that article were real then SiriusXM execs must be complete morons for backing up the Brinks truck to keep Stern under contract for another 5 years. Still even if the data is to be believed with 12% of 30 million subscribers listening it puts Stern in the same neighborhood as Fallon/Colbert/Kimmel of ears:eyeballs. In other words quite relevant.
  21. That's all fine and good, I wasn't referring to individual tastes and preferences. If he wasn't relevant he wouldn't be getting paid hundreds of millions of dollars to have an endless parade of high profile celebrities into his studio to be interviewed. Simple as that.
  22. I couldn't disagree more, if the bolded were the case they wouldn't be paying him what they do. Stern is SiriusXM. But that's neither here nor there in regard to his relevance in the world of news and pop culture.
  23. A guy who regularly interviews the top names in pop culture, music, news etc. isn't irrelevant. 30 million subscribers also isn't irrelevant.
  24. Stern being irrelevant comments never get old. Nothing could be further from the truth.
