My wife. Not the 41st birthday present I was expecting at all. My wife gets me a flight to Buffalo next week and my brother and friends are picking me up in a limo to go to the Steel Panther concert in the Falls. Awesome. When I saw steel panther in myrtle beach in May, I noticed that Opeth was going to be playing the next night at the same venue. I was very tempted to blow off work and go. I've never seen Opeth live before, but I imagine they are amazing.

Speaking of death / black metal, is anyone into Opeth? At first I didn't get the death / cookie monster vocals, but they grow on you. This is one of my favorites, the first five minutes are clean vocals, then the death metal growls kick in and punch you in the gut. So I've had to wait a week to publicly thank you for sharing this. So much in that article hits way too close to home. Companies that are supposed to be innovative simply cannot be under this type of leadership. But what the hell do I know? I do know that corporate bureaucracy sucks. It's all a balancing act between family, chance at winning and $. The only thing, IMO, that keeps the Sabres even in the conversation with Doan is if that reported $30 MM offer is true. Otherwise it's three strikes in all of those areas.

Everyone's number one priority no matter what profession they are in is family. At least it should be anyway. If Phoenix had spent the past few seasons at the bottom of the league like Columbus or Edmonton I think Doan signs with someone else on day one of FA. I think he's trying to do what's best for his family (stay in Phoenix) while still giving himself a shot at a cup.

I agree with this. There is a reason why so many former players choose live in WNY when they could be anywhere else. Visiting players go from the airport to the 33 to a hotel situated in a barren less than vibrant downtown. I wouldn't be excited about Buffalo as a destination if that was all I saw either. I'd have Regehr and his wife give him the tour given they were in the same boat last year and seem to have done a 180 about living in Buffalo from what I've read.

Going back and reading some of his earlier tweets from today, his Ducks "source" supports what I think DeLuca was saying. Ducks looking for more in return than Jackets got for Nash because Columbus needed to move Nash. Ducks don't have to move Ryan and will keep him if they don't get proper return.

Well if you believe the rumor, its saying this was the Ducks counter offer, not that the Sabres would do this.

Same twitter claiming Doan will meet with Pens, Habs and Sabres over the next week. In his defense he just tweeted that he doesn't believe the Sabres do that deal. Too much.

Latest from one of our twitter friends.. Ducks want deal centered around Vanek. Stating Vanek + prospect + 1st gets it done. I have to admit this seems outlandish. No way I do that if I'm Darcy. If the idea is to get more scoring, this leaves the Sabres even at best in that department.

That is awesome and it is a big part of what I miss about WNY. I'm so sick of the summer here already and there is at least another 6 weeks of insanely hot, humid weather to go. Fall is my favorite season down here. Mid 70's to low 80's with low humidity during the days and cool, crisp nights watching the Sabres outside by the fire.
