  1. Sounds to me like you're ready to stop supporting either party.
  2. Including most MD's in my experience. I have many friends who are MD's and I worked at UB med school for a period of time, the first students who are weeded out are usually those who aren't in it for the right reasons.
  3. Giving something to someone and asking for nothing is, in fact, a gift. Promising to take less of individual or corporate earnings isn't a gift.
  4. Thank you, there are some disillusioned folks here on what it takes to become an MD. And you covered all the details. Great post.
  5. I work for a large medical technology / device company. We've already had a bunch of layoffs and I'm certain more are coming.
  6. Yep, they just aren't a good football team, and it's been pretty much the same story going on almost 14 years now.
  7. The real reason Romney lost....Headphones only if at work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_g5d273tig&feature=relmfu Seriously though, this guy missed out on a great gig as an impersonator with Romney losing the election. One of the best I've heard.
  8. Same here. I was watching at my man cave with some neighbors, and I went way out on a limb at the beginning of that last drive and guaranteed that the drive would end with a pick. There is no more room for frustration or anger with this team, just laughter.
  9. No, I don't think it influenced a single voter. I'm just pointing out that it was such an obvious violation of polling procedure and that PA ignored that angle of the story.
  10. Very tough week. I'm in a Y guides tribe with my son, and we lost one of the dad's last Friday at the age of 50. His son is in the same class at school with my son as well. A seven year old boy who has to grow up without a father. Very sad. I dreaded telling my son about it and when I did it went better than I thought it would, but I don't think he fully gets it yet.
  11. That's not how I took it. in fact, when I saw the mural my natural assumption was that it was at a school, had been there for some time, and was there as an inspiration to young students. However, when that venue is being used as a polling place, I think it would be obvious to all that any likeness of a candidate running in the election would need to be covered while the polls are open.
  12. I'm about 20 minutes outside of Raleigh. I guess the big city folks get the newfangled stuff.
  13. The NC ballot is a scan sheet that you fill in the bubbles with a pen. Then you have to walk it over to the machine and place it in the scanner. The first time I put mine in, it didn't accept it so the election official called it to my attention and told me to turn it around and try again. I did so, and it didn't work again. At that point the official grabbed one side of the ballot to make sure it was going in straight and another official saw him and jumped down his throat. "You're not allowed to touch his ballot!!!" I kind of felt bad for the guy. Third time was a charm and my ballot was accepted.
  14. That's the spirit!! One "side" will be ecstatic tonight. Meanwhile, nothing changes as we keep sending the same crooks to Washington time after time.
  15. I fully expect it to do so tonight or tomorrow at the hands of the losing side.
  16. Let me rephrase my previous question. Why is there need for ANY group to guard polling places? Edit for simultaneous response. I don't think it's intimidation, I just don't see the need for anyone, especially someone readily identified with a political organization to loiter at a polling place. Don't the candidates and supporters have to stand a certain distance away? If this guy is opening doors he must be right outside? Again I haven't seen or read the report, just going on what you stated.
  17. If memory serves, didn't Biden say something out of turn that forced Obama's hand on gay marriage?
  18. I haven't seen the report, but why is a black panther standing guard outside of a polling place?
  19. Those are one in the same in my book, they both give deep thought and change opinions accordingly based on what they deem will win the most votes.
  20. True, but someone could do the exact same thing with Obama quotes, in fact I'm sure something similar is out there if you care to look for it. They are all the same, they all lie and change their positions.
  21. Just got done voting. I was at about the same place in line as I was in 2008 when I arrived 15 minutes before polls opened. That's my report from my small slice of NC. As I've said neither candidate got my vote, but to be fair reading the dailykos reasons not to vote for Romney is the equivalent of listening to Rush Limbaugh's reasons not to vote for Obama.
  22. I think Obama is further left than Romney is right. Of course they both campaign towards the center.
  23. Good episode. With Rick melting down, is it time for the black dude from the very first episode to show up again?
