  1. The beer snob in me plans to sample all the beers at the brewpub. The Teddy Roosevelt at 4.5% abv looks like a winner for a good session beer, Both sets of grandparents are still in Buffalo for now. Her parents will be moving here to NC before the end of 2013 when her dad retires, and my parents will drive through NC in a few weeks on their way to Florida.
  2. That sucks, I feel your pain. There is a guy here who makes his rounds every day like clockwork, stopping by desks to just shoot the ###### with people and wasting their time. Luckily this guy is not my manager so he doesn't stop to talk to me that much, but every day its the same thing with the people who report to him that sit near me. What makes it worse is that out of the maybe five or so times that I've needed to go to his office for something, he's been napping at his desk twice. Of course this guy is a shining star around here and the sky is the limit for him on the corporate ladder, yet he does absolutely nothing to contribute to our project other than to be a loyal lapdog to his superiors. Disgusting.
  3. Out of 365 days you picked the best possible one to get married. My birthday.
  4. My wife is awesome. Did she ask to go to Hawaii or on a cruise or some other beach destination to celebrate our 10th anniversary? No. She wanted to go to Buffalo. So tomorrow morning we leave for our hometown, sans kids, to celebrate with our friends and family. Staying Saturday night at Hotel Lafayette should be awesome too.
  5. Friggin' MRSA. I've got a lab full of the stuff about 100 ft away from me right now. Perhaps I should make a visit to PNC arena... Also, looking at it from the perspective not of who Lindy was forced to play, but who he actually lost, one thing that is often forgotten is that Tallinder was having a Conn Smythe-esque playoffs before going down in game one. Tallinder was never the same player after that. Hey, it's better than having that politics thread at the top of the page every day.
  6. Maybe they tried to be more physical, but did they have the horses like the Bruins to simply beat us into submission? No way. Nonetheless, I don't think that alone explains our d-men dropping like flies, if that were the case we should have had our entire AHL roster playing by the end of the Bruins or Flyers series. There have been hundreds of seven game series in the NHL over the years. Some with equally physical teams, some with two teams made of of purse carriers and some where one team dominates the other physically, and out of all those that Sabres/Canes series stands as the only one where a team was down to playing the dregs of their AHL roster. Jillson and Janik?

  8. The 2006 Canes were a physical juggernaut? The Sabres and Canes that year were spitting images of each other.
  9. Nails on a chalkboard > vocal fry. I friggin' can't stand it.
  10. I went to a wedding years ago that fell on game 7 of the ALCS. All the TV's at the club had the game on. The bride was less than happy. Congrats on the imminent nuptials. :nana:
  11. Here's why. It was an unprecedented string of bad luck that had never happened before to a team and likely never will again. When the Sabres and Canes meet on any versus/NBC sports telecast to this day the commentator is sure to bring it up. Heck, John Forslund still mentions it. It was the big story line of that series. Secondly, and I guess you guys just need to come down to a game here to see it for yourselves, but the responsibility for keeping the animosity alive from that series falls almost exclusively on the shoulders of the fans of the team that won it. Then and only then, my fellow Sabres fans, will you understand.
  12. Would you acknowledge it as a factor if the Sabres had benefitted from such a series of events? Either way, most folks have moved past it, but I can promise you that it would have taken you a bit longer than 0.5 seconds to put it behind you if you lived in Raleigh circa 2006.
  13. Yep. Many Canes fans I know simply refuse to acknowledge that the unprecedented string of injuries that Sabres were dealt just might have had an effect on how that series played out.
  14. Nonsense! There are many astute fans in these parts, and even some right here on this board that will tell you the rash of injured Sabres d-men in the spring of 2006 had absolutely no bearing on the outcome of that series.
  15. No question the Bruins still have it on us in overall team toughness. However, with Scott the Sabres now have a guy who could potentially beat any one of Chara/Lucic/Thornton to a pulp. Having Foligno around full time shouldn't hurt either. In the past it was either run for the hills or have Gaustad, McCormick and Kaleta take their beating when the time came.
  16. Agreed, but that doesn't mean we won't hear about it here everyday!
  17. Some fireworks with Scott in game one. Nice.
  18. I'm boycotting the Canes games.
  19. It can only help. The perception of Buffalo as a destination around the league is much worse than reality.
  20. Fantastic. Think about the previous generation though, Howard Stern was talking just the other day about how as a kid he used to pleasure himself while looking at the individual frames of a 8 mm stag film.
  21. It's been confirmed that they asked permission to speak with the Jets DC. I think they asked to talk to the Jags DC as well.
  22. I don't think you're being serious, but what NFL team carries 7 QB's on their roster / practice squad combined?
