  1. I just might have to give this a try. I have done the smoker to oven or grill cheating method a few times with pork shoulder and ribs with good results. If I recall, you have a BGE, don't you? I'm so tempted to get one and move away from my Weber bullet smoker and gas grill combo and do all charcoal all the time. We did a prime rib on the grill for the Super Bowl. Just rubbed it with roasted garlic, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper. Cooked indirect on the grill to 125 internal (I have to highly recommend a Thermapen for baking, grilling and brewing) and let it rest for 30 minutes. It turned out fantastic.
  2. I'm leaning more towards Lindy being safe no matter what happens the rest of this season. The lockout excuse is a nice and convenient one to explain falling short of expectations. I suppose that if they completely fall apart and finish last in the league that he might go after the season, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  3. I didn't on Sunday, but I have spoken to customer retention before specifically about this issue. They were willing to give me new receivers but only if I signed a 2 year contract. I told them to go to hell. There has to be at least 10 notes on my account regarding this exact problem. If this was Sunday Ticket and they were going to lose me I'm sure they would have done something.
  4. I got fed up and canceled Center Ice on Sunday. Half the time I don't get the games and Direct TV has done nothing to solve the problem. I called and told then I wasn't going to pay for something if I only get to see half the games at most. You figure that the CSR would do something to appease me, either give it to me for free or offer to actually send someone out to fix it finally, right? Nope. All I got was: "Ok, thank you sir, I've canceled that for you, is there anything else I can help you with today?" Unbelievable. Anyway, I'm going old school....RJ only for the rest of the year!
  5. Another one being Brandon Sutter from the Canes, and he ended up as part of a package that landed the almighty Jordan Staal.
  6. All the other nonsense aside, this really sums it up. WTF is going on in Buffalo?
  7. I don't brew lagers often, but when I do I usually commandeer my wife's wine fridge for the fermentation. For this one I didn't need to though since the temps here in NC were perfect for lager fermentation for the two weeks after I brewed it, it was a pretty steady 48-52 F in my garage for the whole fermentation, then went up to about 68 just when I needed to do the diacetyl rest. I sampled it when I racked it to the keg last week and it tastes awesome.
  8. Good to see we have another homebrewer around here. I've actually been able to brew a bit over the past few months. I currently have a Citra Pale ale on tap in the kegerator, and 5 gallons of Czech pils lagering that should be ready to tap next month. I also brewed 10 gallons of a dry stout on Saturday while watching the Sabres/Canadiens debacle.
  9. If it's broke, fix it. It's time Mr. Pegula, please stop the insanity.
  10. It would be nice for sure, but before last night I felt there was a slim chance that Lucic or Chara would ever go toe to toe with Scott. Now there is no fargin way that happens.
  11. I made a comment last week about how John Forslund and Tripp Tracy are among the biggest homer announcers going these days. I take that back. There are homer announcers and then there is what you have going on with the Bruins, they take in to another level.
  12. Plus garlic powder, celery salt and worcestershire. Most importantly, do not add extra vinegar. No need.
  13. Whatever happens tonight boys, please don't be a bunch of pussies.
  14. I agree. Sabres win tonight only to follow up with a series of uninspired losing efforts.
  15. This is how I'm seeing it as well. We are well past the time to be reaching to find silver linings with this team.
  16. For the golf fans, my brother in law ended up finishing tied for 9th at Torrey Pines last weekend. Thankfully, I missed watching the Sabres on Sunday because I was following him. He played in the group in front of Tiger on Sunday and Monday and at one point was in second behind Tiger at -10. By finishing in the top 10 he ended up getting into the tourney in Phoenix this weekend, otherwise he would have had to play in to qualify. Unlike the Sabres, he was clutch at the very end, with a 36 foot chip in on 16 to save par and two birdies on 17 and 18 to sneak into the top 10. This weeks tournament is the Waste Management Open, famously known for the 16th hole party atmosphere where the golfers sometimes throw gear etc. into the crowd. I hear a rumor that my BiL may have some hockey pucks to throw to the fans there this week.
  17. Speaking of Revenge of the Nerds, Stern just had on Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong (Booger) last week. They revealed that they were all set to make another ROTN sequel with the same cast, but Anthony Edwards screwed them all out of a big pay day because ER was just about to take off and he wouldn't sign on to do it.
  18. Yes indeed, my cave was my bonus room before I built the one in my backyard. Now that room is filled with transformers, skylanders and barbie dolls for my kids. I also turn the actual cave into a kid cave now and then to roast marshmallows and watch movies with my kids out there. When they are teenagers having that thing is definitely going to be a problem.
  19. I don't think that Darcy and Lindy are necessarily joined at the hip like in the past given the recent DR contract extension. If the season continues on its current trajectory I think Lindy is likely gone before it's over and definitely before next season. It's well past the time to move on from him here in Buffalo.
  20. So with the shortened schedule, at what point can we expect the Sabres to stop playing like ###### and then go on their patented late season hot streak only to ultimately either fall just short of the playoffs or get smoked in round one?
  21. Given that the title of the thread is virus line I don't think you can nail me for coming up with other virus line combos. Although I would prefer the SRV line over RSV. I think a bigger indictment of my nerd factor is that when bio said this... My mind immediately went to things like immunoaffinity chromatography, ammonium sulfate precipitation and recombinant his-tagged proteins. Rather than here...
