  1. I don't think he said that he is turning in his fan card.
  2. The author of this book just posted a link over at TSW, it's a mob novel that takes place in Buffalo. I just finished a book last night so I'm going to dive into this one next given the glowing reviews on Amazon. Plus it's free for Kindle owners. http://forums.twobil...ller-on-amazon/
  3. Agreed. There are way more pressing needs and concerns than worrying about Ryan Miller.
  4. Nothing but fine words to say about him, but his release has been long overdue. As cornerbacks go, his tenure in Buffalo was Lindy-esque. Like a lot of Bills over the past decade plus, I kinda feel bad that he had to toil with the Bills for his whole career instead of getting a shot with a legit contender.
  5. Hear that Karlsson suffered 70% severed achilles.
  6. Alamo mode!!
  7. Anything that any player says to the media is to be taken with a huge grain of salt. It's usually just a bunch of cliches and nonsense coming from these guys, and I don't presume that anything they say to members of the media in any way reflects the true nature of what's going on in that locker room.
  8. Makes sense given that Darcy's son lives in Cary.
  9. I know a few people that do serve their homebrew on cask, the problem is that beer served on cask has to be consumed rather quickly. Since air is being introduced to replace the lost volume in the cask/keg, you can quickly oxidize the beer and/or introduce microorganisms that will spoil it.
  10. Pegula in one of the beyond blue and gold episodes.
  11. And there you have it. I've reached that place with the Sabres where I've been with the Bills for years. I'll always follow them, but I'm really enjoying the extra productivity that comes with not wasting my time watching them.. It's all about the Pegula watch now.....when will he break?
  12. Fat Tuesday jambalaya and homebrew.
  13. This will be my sixth, but first time in almost nine years. 1991 Roll The Bones Buffalo 1994 Counterparts Buffalo 1996 Test For Echo Buffalo 2002 Vapor Trails Raleigh 2004 R30 Virginia Beach It's been eleven years since Rush has been to Raleigh. I had tickets to the Time Machine tour in Greensboro, but Rush had to postpone the concert by one day which did not work for me. Rush saved my ass with this announcement. My wife was going to make me go to an Olivia Newton John concert in Durham this month. So told her..I go to ONJ, then you go to Rush. Suddenly I'm no longer being pressured to see ONJ..amazing how that happens! I'm thinking about taking my eight year old to the Rush show, but he might not be ready for it yet, we'll see.
  14. Yes it did.... :nana: it was pretty damn funny.
  15. Interesting. I love doing these types of beer experimentation like you did with the different forms of Hop Devil. I loved when Sam Adams did their "deconstructed" versions of their Latitude 48 IPA, with single hopped versions of the five different hop types used in the full version Lat 48 IPA. I also love smoked beers. I've brewed numerous versions of smoked porter over the years. My friend just brewed at Grodziskie, an old polish style that's brewed with oak smoked wheat malt. It's a very sessionable beer, clocking in at around 3-4% abv, I have to say that I enjoyed it so much that it's on my list to brew soon. Very refreshing, yet complex and you can drink more than a few and still see straight. Here's a good read on the style http://drinks.seriouseats.com/2011/08/beer-styles-grodziski-gratzer-polish-smoked-wheat-beer-history.html
  16. I don't think anyone hates these two men personally. However, I have certainly grown to hate the concept of Lindy Ruff coaching my favorite hockey team. 15 years!! it's time to stop the madness.
  17. Damn I'm jealous. I've been to hundreds of live shows in my day, and the Porcupine Tree show I caught here in Raleigh a few years ago is easily in the top 3.
  18. Nice. I've seen Blue Rodeo at the Tralf a few times.
  19. Not sure. I don't know if they still do it or any other teams do, but they definitely did it in 2006.
  20. This is what I've always noted as the main difference, non West coast IPA's tend to use too much of the caramel (crystal) malts in their grain bill. In general the resulting residual caramel sweetness tends to just mesh poorly with citrusy American hops IMO. Ha! And that's why beer is such a fantastically simple, yet complex beverage.
  21. The Canes did this for the later games of the 2006 ECF series. If you didn't have a local zip code then you could not purchase tickets.
  22. Impressive! Firestone Walker Double Jack... I forgot about that one and plain old Union Jack IPA in my list of favorites IPAs. Pliny the Elder is still the best DIPA, but Double Jack is close. The West coast breweries are way out in front with the IPAs.
  23. Good question. From Googling, It looks like he has been having some pretty serious issues with his back in recent years, and the last PGA event he played in was the 2012 Pebble Beach Pro Am a year ago. Hopefully he can find his way to better health in order to get back on tour. His residence is listed as Clarence, NY so I assume he is probably neighbors with Lindy. This also prompted me to look up another golfer with Buffalo ties, Jim Thorpe. It looks like he is still competing on the champions tour, but he went to prison for a year in 2010 for tax evasion!
  24. Nice lineup. What did you think of the Racer 5? If you enjoyed it , their Hop Rod Rye is just as good, maybe better. As others have said Lagunitas makes a damn fine IPA, I also like the IPA from Green Flash.
