  1. I hear what you're saying, but as others have said as you get older and your responsibilities increase making the change becomes exponentially more difficult. If you're seriously thinking about it, the time is now.
  2. Trust me, at 31 years old, not married (yet) and with no kids (I assume) you should see absolutely no roadblocks to embarking on a fresh career path.
  3. As someone who has suffered vision loss due to eye trauma all of the above sounds very familiar. No matter what kind of player he was on the ice I feel bad for him and would never wish this on anyone 'cause it just plain sucks. Again, you have no idea. If you did then I promise you that this wouldn't be your response.
  4. I give WTF waves to people who throw me under the bus, so I'm going with Miller.
  5. Unfortunately this is the reality that crystallizes eventually for many who have had to leave. Good luck as you grapple with this. Leaving WNY was a very tough decision for me as all of my family was and still is there. My wife (fiance at the time) came along with very serious reservations about the move to NC. Now, a decade later, I'd probably have just as hard a time convincing her to move back. Good luck with the interview as well.
  6. I'm all for giving Enroth and a bunch of other youngsters plenty of ice time the rest of the way. What you see is what you get from the guys who have been here for years, and most of it isn't good enough. It should be depth evaluation time in hockey heaven.
  7. In Raleigh it's got to be Blinco's. The owner has WNY roots but it's far from a Buffalo bar, it's Canes/NC State all the way. Either way, their wings are like you'll find in WNY. They also used to do beef on weck and a Friday haddock fish fry in the WNY tradition, but I haven't been there in a few years so I can't say for sure if they still do. It's pretty close to PNC arena so it's worth checking out before or after a game should you ever decide to come and pillage with the locals. Buffalo Brothers is another option with plenty of TV's, but I prefer the food and beer selection at Blinco's.
  8. Very true. My wife used to be an RN at ECMC, she told me that she and her co-workers would make life hell for the a-hole doctors.
  9. Myers can still be top 2 dman if he gets the other parts of his game back, but sadly the guy just doesn't have an ounce of grit to him.
  10. Unfortunately I've done that too often these past few seasons, just like I've been doing with the Bills for a decade.
  11. I had an apartment on Harlem road years ago with that same issue, my roommate and I opted to sleep with hats and gloves rather than pay the $400 a month heating bill.
  12. Nice. John Blue. That's right up there with Tom Draper, Phil Myre and Paul Harrison.
  13. I agree that it was an unfortunate outcome to a hockey play and I feel horrible for the injured player. I know a former Cornell player who was paralyzed just playing a pick up game. It can be a dangerous sport, sometimes bad freak stuff just happens.
  14. One thing I will never miss about WNY is the winter season that drags on and on and on and...Having said that, I despise the three months of hot humid ###### weather that we get down here for june to august more than any three month stretch of winter weather in WNY.
  15. I'm only at episode 8 so you're good. I too like how they've done it with this series by releasing all the episodes at once. I hear that Amazon is also beginning to produce it's own original programming for its streaming service, including a comedy series based on a behind the scenes look at The Onion. And congrats on the new gig!
  16. The Netflix original series House Of Cards. I was sick in bed all day yesterday and I caught up on a bunch of episodes. Kevin Spacey is awesome in it, and even though its just a show, I can't imagine that it's all that far off from reality as to what we get from our esteemed elected leaders that we send to Washington.
  17. Absolutely, and we had to hear Cowher and Tripp Tracey drone on and on about Canes fans being the best in the league.
  18. Buffalo Sabres (@BuffaloSabres) tweeted at 7:21 PM on Tue, Mar 05, 2013: In-game trivia here just asked "who did Carolina beat in 2006 Eastern Conf Finals?" Original. What's next, a joke about snow? Still keeping it classy in Raleigh.
  19. Ha! Thanks, my wife could get me some but I don't think that this is flu.....I hope!
  20. First Sabres game down here that I've missed since game 7 2006. Im in bed with chills and fever, so pick up the pillaging slack for me my local Sabres fans brothers and sisters!
  21. Eat a few for me as it looks like I'm out for tonight. None of my contacts came through with free tix, and I was going to go scalp some cheapies but I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I figure it's better to sit this one out rather than to give a sub par pillaging effort. The last game that I watched was the Pens game, so this will be my first chance to watch the Rolston coached Sabres. Forslund isn't all that bad. Tripp Tracey is really brutal though.
  22. We need a things that are pathetic thread.
