  1. That's just it. Based on these few innocuous off the cuff quotes why does the assumption have to be that Pegula's an overbearing, micro-managing meddler vs. the some days an email exchange, some days a formal meeting meeting/conference call and some days a short hallway conversation type manager?
  2. Owner talks to his GM every day therefore owner is an egomaniacal meddler. Makes perfect sense to me.
  3. If I remember correctly, the theory put forth was that DR was a yes man / weasel and that TP kept him around to allow his meddling to continue unencumbered. Or something like that.
  4. Why are we here? Because we're here Roll the bones.. From one of my least favorite songs by the high priests of progressive rock, but it fit.
  5. If the Islanders pick is top 5 this year and they let us use it, that's as close as you're ever going to get to a team flat out admitting that they plan to tank the next season.
  6. I've owned this Steven Wilson album since the day it came out, but I only haven't been able to get this song out of my head since I watched this brilliant music video last week. The guitar solo to end the song is epic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycYewhiaVBk
  7. One of my favorite science books is The Demon Haunted World: Science As A Candle In The Dark by Carl Sagan. A great read on the beauty of the scientific method for those without science backgrounds. Still, he argues that science and spirituality are not necessarily mutually exclusive, and I agree to the extent that he takes it with this quote.
  8. Democrats suck. Republicans suck. Better?
  9. This. "Beliefs" in science are subjected to the rigor of the scientific method and only when proven under this method do you "know" anything.
  10. I'm liking everything I'm hearing from TM so far just like everyone else, but everyone knows the honeymoon is over at the deadline. Half the posters here are going to hate the deals that get done, and there will be extra consternation over the deals that don't get done.
  11. Sorry man, that does indeed suck, but please don't even attempt this. Wish her well and move on.... Some drunken debauchery with some of your friends this weekend might be in order.
  12. Those weren't advanced stats, analytics, #fancystats or whatever you wish to call them, Miller is a goner, and despite the axe some posters have to grind with the guy, he is beyond good enough to take a well balanced team to a Stanely Cup. Period. We will be left in tank mode and hopefully will be able to find another goalie who is also good enough to take us to the promised land when the rest of the team comes together. Will his pads be filled easily or will it be a case of not knowing what you've got til it's gone? We shall see.
  13. You can't instill a tank philosophy into the players and coaches I agree, to even try to do so would be insane, but you can assemble a roster that you are pretty confident cannot win consistently in the NHL no matter how much compete you get from the individual players. This was clearly the plan with the 2013-14 Sabres, and so far it's working nicely, but you're never going to get an NHL GM admit to a tank on any level under any circumstances. Instead you'll just get code words for tank like "suffering" and "patience".
  14. As a bartender in a past life it became very clear to me quite early in my career that the 4 am closing time is insane. There is an exponential increase in idiocy past 1 am, and I can readily admit that I was often part of that idiocy when I was on the other side of the bar.
  15. i have to admit I would never have been adventurous enough on my own to try them, but my friend who grew up on the stuff with his Chilean parents always ordered the lengua and I decided to give it a try once. It really is a fantastic, extra beefy flavored cut of meat if prepared right.
  16. Yep, those are the ones I'm talking about. There is an awesome one that typically parks right down the road from my office with tacos for $1 on fresh, warm tortillas. When I go I usually get the lengua (beef tongue), which is delicious, but they also have the traditional pork, beef chicken etc. There are late night ones here too but I'm never out past 11 anymore.
  17. Drew Stafford loves Mighty Taco.
  18. Still recovering from the punch to the gut I took with real $ on the super bowl.... Anyway @ 870. 420 on the 'guins.
  19. Indeed, with all the authentic mexican taco trucks and restaurants in these parts I learned pretty quickly that Mighty Taco just plain sucks.
