  1. An all nighter in the lab, 30 minutes between time points, some lab bench paper and a floor model revco....you know how it goes.
  2. If the plan is to tank again next year, then I'm all for Drew being the go to guy on the top line, thank him for his efforts in helping us land McDavid and then part ways forever.
  3. Interestingly enough, I have a story from a past life that involves both of these.
  4. We have some new neighbors on the street that just moved here from up north. I noticed when I left for work today that they had left some windows open, they're gonna be pissed when they get home tonight.
  5. Woke up this morning to the windshield of yellow. I fuggin hate this ######.
  6. They are currently ranked 2nd behind the Lightning on Hockey's Future. I don't know about all the way back to 2007, but I don't remember them ever being higher than the teens in recent years on that site.
  7. Except that most of the impartial "experts" do indeed have the Sabres ranked towards the very top in terms of deepest prospect pool, and it only stands to get deeper after the next two drafts. Of course they could all end up being dead wrong, and Murray could bungle the drafts, but there certainly is reason for being optimistic at this point.
  8. And in seasons past this practice was a big boost towards our late season runs to nowhere. Tanking early and well has made it irrelevant this year thankfully.
  9. I think every regular poster on this board has been very consistent with their views. Some have never been on board with tanking and are therefore wholly justified in their bitching about watching ###### hockey. Those who have advocated for tanking in the past have had zero regrets about how this season has gone.
  10. I have no doubt in my mind that MacKinnon was the target when they decided to trade Pominville last year, but alas the remaining core plus castoffs had one more run to nowhere in them. Nabbing MacKinnon last year shifts the tank timeline by one full season, which is why you saw such a concerted effort to tank the right way from day one of this season. True, but I can't be mad at DR for the eventual Vanek return at all. Bravo for so concisely capturing the mission statement of Tank Nation.
  11. Agreed, the decision one year ago to tank and staying the course looks, at this point, to have been a very wise one indeed.
  12. So which is it, do you work for the Sabres or Tim Hortons?
  13. Nobody has said it's a must. It's one of many approaches to try to build a winner and an approach this franchise has never tried before. Once you go down that road it's probably not advisable to reverse course.
  14. I've had some good luck the few times I've done pizza. I think the key to getting the crust and toppings done simultaneously is to slowly heat your stone to 600 ish and cook high in the dome. I accomplish that with the adjustable rig from ceramicgrillstore.com. I highly recommend their "customer combo" to increase the capacity and versatility of your egg even more. Another great resource for recipes and tips is eggheadforum.com Spatchcock chicken is awesome. I'd cook dinner every night on my egg if the wife would let me.
  15. Tank season = 30th place, no playoffs. Tankless season = 20th place, no playoffs. Thank you Sabres.
  16. I've done wings every way imaginable at home and for me the unquestionable winner are wings prepared on my Big Green Egg, or a good charcoal grill. I smoke them with apple wood for about an hour using indirect heat at about 350, then I grill them direct for a few minutes each side to get them extra crispy. A simple buffalo style wing sauce of Franks, butter, garlic powder, Worcestershire and celery salt. Perfection. Another key to getting crispy skin from grilled wings is to pat the wings dry with a paper towel and let them sit uncovered in the fridge for a few hours before throwing them on the grill.
  17. Yep. The zero cup NHL franchise list has grown ever shorter over the past decade, and we're certainly not getting crossed off that list in the next 3 to 4 seasons. We need to keep a tight hold on all the miserable company that we can. However, if the Blues met another team in the finals that also has never won one then I'd root for the Blues.
  18. All of this. I was there and never left, thanks to my Dad.
  19. Same here..was just playing along.
  20. Good idea. Then we draft Ekblad.
  21. New album not out until 4/1, but the boys of Steel Panther released all the songs on YouTube today...complete with cable porn channel scrambled video. My favorites...Pussywhipped starts with a Metallica-esque classical guitar intro and morphs into skull crushing heaviness. And Bukakke Tears, because they made a song titled Bukakke Tears. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khp1JLUbblQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ4lL7VgCxs
  22. FA's don't want to sign here for one main reason: The city of Buffalo and all the stereotypes and stigmas that go with it, however misguided they may be. Struggling to ever ice a legit cup contender certainly contributes, but even when/if the Sabres manage to be among the elite teams in the league the recruiting problem will remain as compared to other top markets who also are competitive. The recruiting problem is very real, and will only ever abate to the extent that winning hockey allows, but it will always be there.
