  1. We're the 1991 Indianapolis Colts without Ryan O'Reilly in the lineup.
  2. I want to see Kane at center. He got moved to wing because all black players get moved to wing. :D (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_black_NHL_players#Forwards)
  3. Reagan instituted massive tax cuts soon after taking office in 1981. Perhaps unexpectedly, the government started running huge ($100+ billion) deficits for the first time in our history starting in 1982. The following year the Social Security "Reform" Act was signed, which increased the payroll tax that funds Social Security and Medicare. This was cunningly sold to the public as a means to exponentially increase the social security coffers in order to have solvency through the baby boomer retirement years via a trust fund. Pure politics! By law the trust fund surplus is to be invested in U.S. Treasury Bonds, which the government then can conveniently "borrow" to fund deficit spending. It is something of an IOU to us citizens that the government will almost certainly never pay back. Now, they're trying to tell us we need to "reform" Medicare and Social Security as broken entitlement programs. But, that money - in theory - would have been there had they left the payroll tax surplus alone (or it had been invested privately) and/or had they not run massive deficits year after year with spending and tax cuts we can't afford. For those of us who believe that massive debt loads stagnate an economy (e.g., when the public debt-to-GDP ratio exceeds 90 percent), I cringe at politicians who claim they'll cut taxes further and/or increase spending. No wonder the public is favoring "outsider" candidates like Trump.
  4. It bothers the crap out of me when Social Security (and Medicare for that matter) is called an "entitlement" program by Fox News and others in a way that is meant to project that it is some sort of government welfare program. It is funded by the wages of laborers, taken out of our checks, with the intent that the money can be used later by the same individuals. We pay for it. That our politicians have been borrowing/stealing our money, somewhere around $2.5 trillion, from the payroll tax surplus since 1983 (and this crosses party lines) since they can't manage to balance a budget should be the subject of outrage. The payroll tax hike was sold to the public as a means to make sure Social Security was solvent through baby boomer retirement. Yet, the surplus has been used to fund tax cuts and expensive overseas wars. Now, as of 2010, Social Security runs a deficit. That means more borrowing from China. http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikepatton/2013/06/12/is-the-social-security-trust-fund-solvent/#4288858d75fd
  5. I don't think Murray wants WeirdCrotch.
  6. I've always thought that Trump knows exactly what he is doing. He is punking a huge swath of the (uneducated) public and is enraging the Republican party elite at the same time.
  7. Trump cracks me up. His CNN post-debate interview was hilarious.
  8. I watched the Ducks broadcast and they spent an enormous amount of time whining about calls and non-calls. They went on-and-on about Evander Kane's "dirty" hit. Foligno had some of the best chances. He needs to learn to pass once in a while though.
  9. Just another rule designed to further reduce scoring. Same with a review for goalie interference. The offside challenges should at least have some sort of time limit...
  10. In the Preds - Leafs game last night, the Preds were up 3-0. Ryan Ellis scored a power play goal to make it 4-0. The Leafs called for an offside review. About 25 seconds before the goal, Mike Fisher was maybe an inch offside. Didn't matter in the slightest with respect to the goal that was eventually scored. Nevertheless, it was ruled "no goal." Good job NHL.
