    Oof. The Wild got a hell of a lot better after replacing Yeo and his ultra-defensive system. Not sure this is the move the Blues need to stop their slide.

    Very true. I've been critical of GMTM because I get the sense that he doesn't fully recognize how the game has evolved over the last 10 years or so. Everyone else is going to skilled ultra-mobile defensemen who can carry the puck, make tough passes, and have the green light to jump into the play as necessary. Those guys might not be big hitters, but they are quick and positionally sound in their defensive zone. Personally, I'd trade just about any winger on our roster for a good two-way defenseman.

    Risto isn't great in his own zone. And, that's not just this game. But, I agree with the above sentiment that some of the "lazy" plays come from being overused. Obviously Bogo and Franson had terrible games in this one. Franson was playing well pre-break. Bogo is Bogo... a guy who I want off my roster.

    We have Risto and McCabe (out hurt, of course) then a bunch of garbage on the back-end. And, I hate to say it but Risto is overrated by the Buffalo fan base.

    Bogo will get the blame on the first period goal, but Risto generally doesn't play 2-on-1s very well.

    They got a whole lot worse when they traded O'Reilly to us. Grigorenko hasn't done much for them - basically playing a checking line role. They actually used Zadorov at forward some this year. He seems to be getting regular minutes at defense now. I'm critical of GMTM in general, but we killed Colorado in this trade so far.

    Sat about 10 rows up from the Sabres bench. Many Sabres fans in attendance as usual. That was fun!

    Saros is the real deal. He is the heir apparent in net for the Preds. Looks like Colin Wilson will be back from injury so that's probably why Grant gets scratched.

    I'll be at the game with several Sabres fans. Sitting in the section behind the Sabres bench about 10 rows up. This game will be a tough one... the Preds are playing really well. But, the Sabres have a strong record against the Western Conference, so we'll see...

    Peter Laviolette got his 500th NHL win as a coach (Preds beat Minnesota 4-2). He is one of only 25 coaches to get to 500 and only the 2nd American born coach to get there (Torts).

    Bogosian is maybe the least accurate shooter I've ever seen... where the hell did that game winning shot come from?! That was an absolute laser. Wow.

    When he doesn't get into a foot race, Franson is an effective player. He is good on the PK (doesn't need speed for that) and power play. He just has no wheels and if another team attacks with speed and he gets caught up ice... done. He at least brings a little bit of offensive instinct, unlike Bogo, Gorges, etc.

    Keep posting. :thumbsup: Not sure if I ever mentioned it on this board, but when I was talking to Goose a couple of years ago (I used to see him at the dog park) he said that he didn't think GMTM was the best option for the Sabres and that the guy in Pittsburgh (Jason Botterill) would have been a better hire.

    Watching the Preds - Canucks game and.... DEREK GRANT JUST SCORED! ... but it got waived off because of "the intent to blow the whistle" which is complete b.s. Blatant example of a ref changing his mind after a lengthy review and screwing over a team. The ref never even put a whistle to his mouth and emphatically signaled good goal. Sorry, Derek. :(
