Sucks that the Preds lost Fiala. He was taken 11th overall a couple of years ago. Small guy, but fast and super skilled. He scored the OT winner in Game 3 of the Chicago series. Kid has been getting better and better as the year progressed. The only saving grace is the Preds got Colin Wilson back (also a LW), so they can deal with a loss on the left side. But, that's an awful injury.

That Preds - Hawks game was hellafun. As loud as I've heard Bridgestone Arena. Nothing like playoff hockey.

I know Paul. Very sharp guy who I think would be a great hire. Also, apparently some of the players favored Jason Botterill a few years ago and he is still without his first shot as a GM. I'd take either of those two guys. Fenton + Housley would be fantastic.

Subban has been knocking the crap out of Toews all series. He really got under the Captain's skin last night. Samson has good hands and vision, but otherwise is pretty invisible most games. He certainly doesn't play with reckless abandon... doesn't leave it all out on the ice on every shift. Physically he isn't anywhere close to the player Draisaitl is. Leon is bigger, faster, much more physical, is stronger on the puck, etc. than Samson. I'd take a Draisaitl for Reinhardt trade in a second. Skill-wise they're probably comparable, but Leon plays with a lot more attitude and determination than Samson who has a tendency to drift a bit. At this point (and I concede that both guys are still very early in their careers), GMTM picked the wrong guy at #2 IMHO.

I worry about numbers. There's, like, too many of them.

If GMTM would have just drafted Leon Draisaitl instead of Samson like he should have, none of this would have happened. :angel:

Any good entrepreneur knows that just because you have the capital to buy the business, it doesn't mean you have the expertise to run it. The Pegulas are nice people and mean well... and they do well on the PR front... but I agree with Bucky that there isn't much empirical evidence that they have any idea how to create a winning culture within their organizations.

I kind of hate the Ducks so that was nice to see, if meaningless.
