  1. I still don't like Bogosian. But, he looks slightly less crappy in Housley's system.
  2. Oof. Pretty sure any one of us could have scored that one.
  3. Can Pouliot be the new "Balls?" (Benoit from a few years ago)
  4. "O'er the land, o'er the free" Go Sabres! (got the game on NHL Network)
  5. To point out the obvious, this was never about the anthem or flag. Now about the Bills. Any shot at beating the Falcons this week?
  6. I'm definitely excited for the switch to a more up-tempo, fast break, style of hockey ala Peter Laviolette's system in Nashville where Housley was for the past several years. It's a 5-man interchangeable parts system where the classic divisions between forwards and defensemen are obscured. D-men always have the green light to jump up into the rush and forwards are expected to defend when necessary. I think/hope we'll see more 5-4 games instead of 2-1 games, which will be good for the fans. We shall see...
  7. Anyone miss Stephon Gilmore? IMHO, our new corners are solid ...and unlike Gilmore they'll actually make tackles.
  8. Yay, team!
  9. 15 yards for being a bad person. :-)
  10. Is there a flag on every play in today's NFL?
  11. Borussia vs. Borussia coming up on FS2. Two of the best US men's national team players going head-to-head in Christian Pulisic (turned 19 earlier in the week) and Fabian Johnson.
  12. I feel like the USA is in a "tweener" stage where the old core group of guys like Donovan, Howard and Dempsey have gotten old and there wasn't a "next group" of guys to take their place. We do have new wave of young talent in guys like Pulisic (already established), Weston McKennie, Josh Perez, Matt Miazga, Hyndman, Zelalem, CCV, and others. But, they're not quite ready yet. So, we're stuck with a weird mix of guys past their prime and career MLS guys.
  13. The Champions League final 5 years ago was Bayern vs. Dortmund. I think there is a difference between one or two rich teams in an otherwise "average" league and a deep league with a lot of rich teams. The EPL is definitely the deepest league w/ 8 of the 20 richest teams in the world and the biggest TV contract. La Liga and Ligue 1 have a few clubs that dwarf the others in terms of resources.
  14. I agree about La Liga... I find it boring to watch the two richest teams in the world (Barca & Real) destroy weaker competition week after week. La Liga also has a low % of foreign players, which isn't desirable for a top league. I watch every Dortmund game that is televised. Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I think Dortmund has a shot at Bayern this season.
  15. I think our defense will keep us in the game longer than expected. But, as usual, I expect our offense to be unwatchably bad.
  16. Huh? The Bundesliga is one of the top three leagues in the world (with the EPL and La Liga) and has been for a while. It's also the second richest soccer league in the world (next to the EPL).
  17. Sounds great!
  18. Darnold wasn't that good most of the game. He did get it done late for sure. But, 4 Texas turnovers was the difference.
  19. Vanderbilt wins! (over K-State, since I'm sure no one else is watching this game)
  20. You guys are making assessments based on a video or a game or two. Watch these guys play. In person. Over several games. You'll see how good Mayfield is. Quick decision making and pinpoint accuracy is why I liken him to Drew Brees. He leads college football in completion %, led it last year (over 70%), and was 4th in the nation as a sophomore. There are plenty of good college QBs out there - probably 5 with legit NFL starter potential. I definitely think Mayfield is one of them.
  21. One of my favorite post-rock bands...
  22. Every once in a while you see a player who just has "it." And, Baker Mayfield has "it." He is Drew Brees 2.0. That's a kid who will be a very good NFL quarterback for a lot of years if he stays healthy and stays out of trouble. He led college football in passer rating last year and will do it again this year. BTW- I've always been way more into college football than pro football. In part because I've spent my career on DI college campuses.
  23. Baker Mayfield is really good.
