One of our local sports reporters told me this directly and it was not Paul Hamilton. Who knows if it is true, but I guess there was some behind-the-scenes stuff between Lindy & Drury (?).

I have always agreed with this perspective. Your captain should be a "heart and soul" type of player who will skate through a wall for his team. I love Pommer's scoring touch these past few years, but he is the very definition of a finesse player. He avoids contact like the plague. It is hard for me to think of a softer payer in the entire lineup. And (as has been discussed on this forum before), many think he was chosen specifically because Lindy knew he'd be a weak captain who would not challenge him ala Drury. Again, I'm not arguing against his great scoring touch these past few years... just saying that Pommer is hardly a "jump on my back and I'll carry you to victory" type of player.

To defend Lindy just slightly, Tyler Myers is last among our 5 active d-men in ice time this game (The Hoff is our ice time leader). It's almost inconceivable that Myers could botch so many plays in only 10+ minutes of ice time. Myers is getting paid franchise defenseman dollars. The "he's young" excuse is getting old IMHO. Either get it done or find someone who can.

In the last 6 games (including this one), we've given up 4, 4, 4 (3 + shootout loss), 3, 3, and 6 goals. We're a bad defensive team.

I agree completely. The irony is I think we collectively underrated guys like Campbell, Tallinder, and Lydman. Most couldn't wait for them to leave town.
