  1. I'll take Toews and put him between Vanek and Pommer. Big young skilled center. Very good defensively. Former Cup winner and current Captain of the league's best team. All of the centers mentioned would be hard to argue with, but we need size up the middle... Toews is a little bigger than Sid, Stamkos, and the other top center options. BTW - Watched Toews, Kane, and company play in Nashville last night. The Black Hawks are impressive.
  2. 2 goals on 43 shots against is solid. I didn't get to see the game - had to follow online - the shots were 43 to 15???
  3. My Dad used to do consulting work for the Sabres back in 70s and 80s and they would pay him, in part, with season tickets in the Oranges. As I recall, the seats were second row of the Oranges, underneath the press box (which was basically a catwalk hanging from the ceiling). There was a "not quite all there" older guy who had season season tickets in the same section and would go to the games alone. I remember at least one game where the guy forgot to wear his pants! ...he was literally sitting there for 3 hours in his tighty whiteys, with a headset on to listen to the radio call, completely oblivious to the fact that he was pantless. In retrospect, it is kind of sad (mental illness isn't funny). But, when I was a kid it was pretty funny.
  4. I'm not joining Team Mai Tai's and Yatzee. We doomed... DOOMED, I TELL YOU!
  5. The Sabres are in a slump... and there is only one known way to break out of a slump...
  6. My cable system (COMCAST) only offers 2 high-def CenterIce channels and the rest are low-def. The MSG feed is never high-def, as others have mentioned. I watch the out-of-town feed more often than not.
  7. Been a lot of tweets (which I'm sure you also saw) about all of the scouts who have been watching our past few games. Any guesses as to who might be on the block?
  8. I'll still watch every game I can. You just have to temper your expectations and not get too upset when you see what you know you'll see (wretched defense, lazy uninspired play, etc.). Living in Nashville, I do find myself watching more and more Predators games. I've had Preds half season tickets for 4 years and they're everything the Sabres are not. They overachieve. Always one of the lowest payrolls, yet they seem to make the playoffs every year as one of the hardest working teams in hockey. I kind of see the Preds as the anti-Sabres.
  9. Aside from a bad GM, a bad coach, and bad players, I'd say we're pretty good.
  10. We have one decent faceoff guy on the entire roster. Ott. So who takes the important draw at the end of the game? Hodgson, of course.
  11. He's shooting scuds tonight. That last one landed in Lebanon. It pains me to say this, but I think I'd rather still have Derek Roy.
  12. I missed the first 1/2 of the game (employment gets in the way of my hockey addiction on occasion)... sounds like I didn't miss much?
