  1. Hockey Heaven?! :censored: Pegula could have come in and cleaned house. Instead we've watched this team steadily marching into Bills-like irrelevancy... what will it take for TP to actually realize that the Lindy/Darcy combo is not the answer?
  2. Garth is actually a reputable blogger IMHO. He is NOT Ek, nor does he get his information from him. Garth's blogs are worth reading usually.
  3. I've been preaching this for a while now (nfreeman is the head cheerleader for this movement, I think). Pommer was the softest forward on the ice that last game and is arguably the softest captain in the league in terms of playing style. To me you separate leadership from playing ability. Pommer is a good player - he gets to the scoring positions on the ice and delivers. His positional play is usually good. But, I've never thought he was the "rally behind me, boys" kind of on-ice leader that you see on many of the top teams. And, I've always thought he was a guy who was built for the regular season and not the playoffs. I watched Toews and Joe Thornton get into a captain fight last game and though "wouldn't it be nice to have that sort of captain..." Every time I post stuff like this it is considered "Pommer-bashing." But, I think this team needs a major culture change and a change in internal leadership is one way to go about that (aside from the usual Lindy/Darcy arguments).
  4. Yeah, sometimes they go hand-in-hand. :) We've give up the most shots in the NHL this year and are giving up almost 3 1/2 goals against per game (4th worst next to Calgary, Washington, and Florida). IMHO, we can bitch about "top-6" forwards and scoring and such but I think we already have enough firepower to win games. We're a complete mess defensively. Our d-men give too much space to opposing forwards, our forwards get trapped in the offensive zone too often, and (as we saw today) we have a heck of a time clearing our own zone. I'm not sure I know what "the answer" is, but the problem seems clear.
  5. Sulzer has been in the NHL for a while. He played here in Nashville for a couple of years as a 6th / 7th defenseman and was pretty good (not great, but serviceable). He never really got any ice time in Vancouver given their depth at defense. I judge all players by their value as (loosely) measured by production per a given salary level. Sulzer is cheap at $700k per year or so. He isn't paid to be a top-end guy. So I think for what is expected of him (as evidenced by his salary) he has played very well. To me, when a team is bad, I always look at the high salary guys to see who isn't pulling their weight.
  6. One of my German friends sent me this. How to be a German in 20 easy steps: http://venturevillag...e-german-part-1 Pretty funny!
  7. Translation: "Dump the ###### puck out of the zone, you ######!"
  8. Yeah, Jochen is a +1 today with an assist and 12 faceoff wins.
  9. Where is the interference call on Foligno? (I love how he drove the net there though!)
  10. Seriously, what is wrong with Pommer? He is sucking at a ridiculous level. Now it is 3-3... :wallbash:
  11. It'd be nice if the announcers actually talked about the game instead of babbling on about the growth of the sport. Nice job Cody!
  12. My dogs have bad breath... I think they may need some dentastix...
  13. Interesting observation. I noticed a couple of years ago that Pommer breaks more sticks than any player I've ever seen. (I cannot quantify that :) )
  14. Pommer has kind of sucked today thus far. He needs a redemption goal in the third.
  15. The Hoff with a primary assist on both goals. He is playing well. Holding on Pommer? ...he will go to the box and feel shame.
