  1. Goose hasn't been awful in Nashville - he has been hurt much of the year (I'm a Preds season ticket holder). He just can't stay healthy for more than a few games at a time. Lydman went to the Ducks for exactly the same money as we signed his replacement Leo for (3 years @ $3 million per). Tony then was 2nd in the league in +/- the following year playing on the Ducks top pairing... and Leo obviously hasn't taken us anywhere. And, Tallinder as we all know was the partner of Myers when he won the Calder. It was a gamble for Darcy to break up that pairing. With the benefit of hindsight, we can now see that Myers has been awful without a veteran stay-at-home guy covering up for his mistakes. I'm not saying they were great players or that we should have necessarily kept them, just that we didn't have suitable replacements for them and we're now a worse team defensively. As for Timmy, yes he is in the AHL... but we're playing an AHL guy (Porter) and a should-be-retired guy (Hecht) and a winger (Ennis) at center since Darcy dumped every other center off of the roster. :D
  2. This. I distinctly remember getting shouted down on this board when I suggested moving Campbell wasn't a good move. Most fans also seemed to think we didn't need Tallinder and Lydman (our two best d-men in retrospect who we let walk away via free agency). And, most wanted to get rid of Timmy, Roy, and Goose... getting rid of those guys normally wouldn't be an issue... but getting rid of them without suitable replacements IS the issue. Darcy ruined this team.
  3. Here is a pretty good intro song for one of the worst teams in hockey... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcNhDstL4-k
  4. Yeah. Was watching NHL Network this morning and they reiterated the old adage (in reference to the Penguins) that team defense wins championships. Paying the price wins championships. Taking the hit to make the play wins championships. ...then I think about the current Sabres roster and how many of our highly paid "stars" are not willing to do the little things that help a team win. The very guys who aren't willing to pay the price are the ones management has placed their (losing) bets on with huge contracts. At least two of the Caps goals yesterday were the result of our guys not playing the man, but instead lazily waving at the puck in the defensive zone. I'm agnostic on Miller. Trade him or not. But, no goaltender will look good behind this lazy team.
  5. Send in the Clowns is appropriate for this ###### team... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5os4NFeKFFs
  6. I (correctly) didn't bother to watch this game. Sounds like I didn't miss much. Blow this ###### up. There is no internal leadership coming from the core. Time clean house and build with youngsters. Oh, and F U Darcy.
  7. It it is anything more than a paragraph, I ain't reading it. :flirt: ...but I'm sure the original post was well thought through and all.
  8. Garrioch the Hut! I agree that the only "must keep" guys up front are Vanek, CoHo, and Foligno. I actually like The Hoff's $4 million cap hit. I like Reggie at $2.75, Weber at $950k and Sulzer at $725k too. Otherwise, there are no players I wouldn't consider moving. Do we trust Darcy to "blow it up?" Does he have the stones to do so?
  9. I can honestly say in 4 years of having Predators season tickets, the only time I've heard boos was when a guy who the fans didn't like touched the puck (e.g. Suter when the Wild came to town). I've never heard anyone boo the home team down here... they do the opposite... when the team needs a boost, the crowd cheers more to try to rally the team. But the Preds have made the playoffs 7 of the last 8 years (with a low payroll). Not sure what would happen if the team got to be as bad as the Sabres...
  10. ...might have to get drunk on green beer this evening instead of watching this slug-fest between two of the most miserable franchises in the league.
  11. It is obvious that we're woefully short of quality centermen and we're long on wing players. And, it is also clear that Darcy is at fault for that being the case in the first place. Personally, I'd be okay with trading just about any of our wingers if it returns a good two-way center.
  12. Jason Pominville ‏ @JasonPominville I like big fluffy teddy bears. I enjoy picking flowers. I like rainbows and hearts. I play hockey for the Buffalo Sabres!
  13. Miller has a tendency to go down too early. Everyone knows it so they (correctly) shoot for the top corners.
  14. ###### me. Awful penalty by the Hoff caps off an awful game by an awful team.
  15. Aw, come on Hoff.... don't take that penalty there... urgh. :wallbash:
  16. 1 Point! ...Dare I point out that the Rangers (8th place) lost today? Edit: I see that Winnipeg jumped them into 8th with a win.
  17. Man, I hate Pommer being on the point during the power play. In years past, he didn't play the point, no?
  18. Ottawa... 2 minutes for cheating!
  19. Drew has a little extra giddyup in his step now... going for the hat trick... :P
  20. Now would be a really nice time for a Stafford hat trick...
  21. Stafford! Two goal game! Keep him on the 4th line!!!
  22. Remember when they actually called interference for like a year or two after the last lockout?
  23. Weber shooting SCUDs out there... that last shot landed somewhere in Lebanon...
  24. There is a reason Pommer is a minus player this year... I certainly wouldn't miss him were he moved at the deadline (but my disdain for his game is well documented across various threads on this board).
