I noticed no one mentioned Pommer.... where is Last Pommer Fan?!
  4. Another good Ott interview: http://www.hockeybuz...42#.UUtTzVdvC1k
  5. Lest we forget, Lindy Ruff was our captain back in the day... and he wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows when he was on the ice.... 179 PIMs in 87-88.
  6. ... the coach will be whomever Rick Dudley decides upon. :D
  7. Down here in Nashville when they named Weber captain a couple of years ago, everyone (players, coaches, etc.) said they knew from Day 1 of his rookie year that Weber would be team captain some day... he just had that intangible leadership quality that guys in the room respect. IMHO, Pommer was appointed captain by Lindy for a particular reason (which has already been discussed on this board multiple times). But, I'm not sure Pommer is "the guy" in the room that players do/should rally behind...
  8. Awesome game. Playoff atmosphere. Ducks win it 4-2.
  9. I posted a couple of Slapshot quotes in the GDT yesterday... but I don't think anyone got them.
  10. When disagreements happen, Pommer prefers to hug it out.
  11. Ah, yes. I didn't read the whole thread. If we arrived at the system independently then it has even more merit.
  12. The Blue Jackets are playing great sans Nash... and the Rangers are struggling a bit... It'd make me really happy to see the Rangers miss the playoffs and the Blue Jackets make the playoffs after the big Nash trade.
  13. I think the NHL likes the current system because it keeps teams bunched up in the standings. So more games are meaningful for more team longer into the season. I never had a problem with ties and don't particularly need to see a skills competition at the end of games. The soccer system makes sense to me since there is a big reward for playing to win at the end of games instead of packing it in defensively. They could give 3 points for a regulation win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a regulation loss... then keep the overtime period and offer 1 point for an OT loss (same as a tie) and 2 points for an OT win. Since an OT loss = a tie (1 point), both teams should be incentivized to take chances and open it up in the OT to try to capture the extra point.
  14. Easy. Trade 'em both. Get a center or two back in return. Big Joe wouldn't be terrible. He'd certainly help the anemic power play and would be a nice center for Vanek. He has a few years left in him and hopefully in a few years Grigo will be ready for prime time. B-)
  15. Courtesy of Darcy, we have no NHL-quality centers other than CoHo (I still consider Ennis a winger playing out of position). At this point I'll take any center who can actually play defense, win a faceoff, and contribute a bit offensively. I'm good with Stoll. Physical guy with lots of playoff experience.
  16. As unpopular as it is to say, I actually like Leino's game so far this year. 2 assists tonight for Ville.
  17. Enroth stopped 32 of 34. Great effort by the little guy in net.
  18. Ott and Ville (i.e. the "non-core" guys) made all the difference on that power play. The first unit was wretched.
  19. Our 4-on-3 involves 4 guys just standing around.
  20. Subban is such a douche. ###### him.
  21. Is there really any doubt that we'll lose this one in OT?
  22. 2 minutes for cheating! You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes, by yourself, you know and you feel shame, you know. And then you get free.
