I had my students do financial projections for relocating a team to each of six different potential markets today... greatest class ever... Kansas City never fares well when looking just at financials due to lease and non-hockey operations considerations... but, of course, there are many non-financial considerations at play regarding relocation...

Losses will happen, but for the team to not even give an honest effort when they're playing one of the worst teams in the league and are in the midst of a playoff hunt is absolutely inexcusable. ...and for the better part of two years this team has not consistently given an honest effort. IMHO this team is desperate for new on-ice leadership. I agree with Garth... sit Pommer and play Stafford in Florida. Shake up the room. Let everyone know they will sit if they're not willing to play "gay porn" hard. The culture of this team needs to change. We may not have the talent to win, but we shouldn't be losing because guys play like the game is a diversion from their beach time.

Mueller scored an absolutely beautiful goal the other night against Edmonton (after a defensive lapse game him a partial breakaway). Perfectly placed shot to the top corner over the goaltender's shoulder. The Preds also recently called up Taylor Beck. He looks like a future star. Keep an eye out for him. Was a third round pick in '09. Man, I wish we had a GM like David Poille...

Thornton may actually be worth investigating. Amazingly, San Jose is the lowest scoring team in the league this year (probably due more to other guys than Thornton). They need scoring depth in a big way. So a 2- or 3- for 1 deal might at least make the Sharks listen.

When a team plays without heart and nothing the coach does can get the players to care, then I look at (a) the GM who put a collection of heartless players together on one team, and (b) the team's internal (player) leadership...
