  1. Not to be a jerk, but in an academic sense, there is actually no such thing as "Rational Loss Theory." ...but I get what you are saying about rooting for losses now so that it sets up a better team in the future (although I personally don't root for losses).
  2. Yeah, it's ###### embarrassing, really.
  3. I assume some on here have heard the Flyers' radio play-by-play announcer? His announcing is fine, but he literally goes soprano when the Flyers score. Sounds like Geddy Lee. I've never heard anything quite like it.
  4. Nashville won't be interested in Vanek. David Poille always builds from within and only picks up expensive veteran help when he thinks the team has a legitimate shot at the Cup. The Forsberg deal is seen down here, in some sense, as recovering the pick that was traded to Buffalo for Goose (although Marty Erat asked for a trade after falling out with the coaches). IMHO, Vanek and Miller are truly free agents in that if they want to stay, I'm sure the team will offer them extensions. I think the fans overreact to every little slim hint of evidence... we don't know if they are hell bent on getting out of Buffalo or if they'd like to stick around and play their entire careers with one franchise. I think the ball is in their court and it is entirely up to them. "Blowing it up" doesn't have to mean trade every single player over 30. And, usually teams can reload in a couple of years if they develop players properly. Vanek is several years younger than Miller so I'd personally like to keep him in Buffalo. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other on Miller.
  5. John Glennon ‏@glennonsports 2m Erat departs Nashville ranked second all-time on #Preds' games played (723), goals (163), assists (318) and points (481) lists.
  6. Marty Erat can play and has been a really good player in Nashville for a really long time. I'm surprised the Preds moved him, but I guess if he wanted out then it makes sense. Latta will be a good NHL 4th line Center. He's been solid down in Milwaukee. The Preds have some very good young forwards (Taylor Beck looks like a future star), so Forsberg should fit right in with them.
  7. I agree. I like Brassard a lot.
  8. She made me buy her a really expensive (north of $1000) digital camera one Christmas. She had one of the zoom lenses with her last night. Got some really nice game photos last night... have quite a few more like this one!
  9. My wife took this picture at the Preds - Avs game last night... I think the pic pretty much sums up why Colorado is a bad team this year...
  10. Hannan has been "injured" the past few games. He has been terrible this year for the Preds.
  11. I find it amusing that all of these poster (not you in particular) who have never seen Johansen play are opining about him. ...I'd absolutely take Johansen + a 1st for Pommer.
  12. Leo didn't have a no trade clause. I'm guessing we didn't have as much leverage re: Regehr, so the return was slightly less.
  13. Vanek, Leino, Hodgson, Ennis, ... See much "grit" there? If a guy won't go to the "dirty" areas of the ice, won't drive the net and get knocked into the post, won't dive to break up a 2-on-1, won't stand up for his teammates, ... then I don't want them at $5.3 million and I certainly don't want them as team captain. What I espouse is the very philosophy that David Poille down here in Nashville uses. All 12 forwards "pay the price" and goals are scored collectively through hard work and effort. That's why Poille will pick up a guy like Goose for a 1st round pick, but won't touch a guy like Pommer. Skill is fine and good and valued, but willingness to get "dirty" also plays a large role in a sport like hockey when it comes playoff time. And, BTW, you'll find that since the hot start in January, Pommer only has 1 more point (11) than Stafford (10) over that stretch.
  14. I'm in disagreement with most on this matter, but I think Pommer is part of the problem, not part of the solution. If we really, truly want to win a Cup then we need to build around the types of players who are built for the playoffs, not built for the regular season. I think Pommer is the latter. A nice finesse player who, when the game turns into an all-out war, isn't the guy I want on my team. (just my opinion, of course!)
  15. McCabe may be a steal as a second round pick. Very interesting prospect.
  16. We're in very good cap shape for next year, especially if we move Pommer or Stafford. The return would clearly be better for Pommer, so I hope he is the next to go. A sound strategy would be to clear a ton of room now because some teams will be in cap jail once the cap goes down by $6 million this summer. We may be able to pick up some good players this summer from teams that simply can't afford everyone.
  17. I was beginning to wonder about long lost Luke. Glad to see him make his triumphant return.
  18. Gracias.
  19. THE STATS GUY ‏@TH2NSTATSGUY 13m KIngs: acquire Regehr from Sabres. LA is last in NHL in blocked shots, Regehr now ranks 1st on the team with 50. #needaddressed (that explains a lot)
  20. Dumped Brennan. Dumped Leo. Dumped Regehr. With Sulzer and McNabb hurt, we've gone from being loaded with defensemen to thin again. We'll have to call up someone (Pardy?).
  21. This. Normally you field offers first, then talk to the player second. I'm sure there are one or two solid offers for Pommer that Darcy is considering.
  22. Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeecafffffff. Decaf, decaf. :)
  23. Rosehill is an enforcer. Not much to his game other than punching guys in the head.
  24. CBJ has a glut of centers. They may want to move a guy like Derick Brassard. He has struggled, but has talent. (pure conjecture on my part here)
  25. My feelings are well-known in this regard. I'd love to see Pommer traded out. He is well-regarded around the league, so he could potentially bring a nice return.
