Yeah, I think collectively this is most physical group of forwards we've had in a long time. They're not necessarily the biggest guys, but they're willing to hit and fight for pucks in the corners. Nice to see.

Great play by Hefty Smurf almost resulted in a goal there.

I'm not sure I view the deadline moves we made as constituting a total rebuild. We dumped a one-dimensional defenseman (Brennan), two aging, overpriced, pending UFA defensemen (Leo, Regehr), and a slumping, arguably overpriced Captain (Pommer). The latter trade was clearly done, in part, to change the culture of the team and locker room. Everyone seems to lament the loss of Pommer, but its not like this team was very good when he was here. We have to do something one way or the other about Miller and Vanek, of course. But we have two top-40 prospects already in Grigo and Armia, plus several good young players on the current roster (Psysk, Hodgson, Ennis, Myers, Foligno, etc.). I don't think it needs to be a long time before this team loads up again. And, I actually still don't think these guys are completely out of it for the playoffs this year.

Weber is much better this year than last. And, he does play the same game as Regehr but is faster, younger, and cheaper. I actually don't think we're much worse off with Pysyk and Pardy instead of Leo and Regehr. Coach Ted Danson is playing Myers and The Hoff as the top pair at 25+ minutes per game, Sekera with Weber at 20 minutes or so, and Pysyk and Pardy at 10-15 minutes or so. To me, those pairings and the minutes they are playing make a lot of sense.
