I didn't expect Darcy to go after any of the big names, but any reasonably priced veteran center who can offer some leadership, can win a faceoff, and can play some defense would have been nice.
Poille was quoted as saying he let TJ Brennan walk when Seth Jones unexpectedly fell to them in the draft. The only (minor) issue is they can't pair Jones with Weber because they both play the right side. But, that's a nice problem to have. :)
Yeah, Kings just signed Jeff Schultz for 1 year. Jets and Caps seem to be the only other Eastern Conference teams not making moves. Some big names still out there though... will be interesting to see where Iginla lands.
Only 4 teams failed to make a move thus far today.
Most of us are on board with rebuilding at this point, but that doesn't mean the team has to absolutely suck for the next several years. A solid veteran or two (at center preferably) would make some sense, if only to provide veteran leadership for the youngsters.
Awesome. Everyone in our division is getting stronger. We're perhaps banking on the #1 overall pick next year if/when we trade Vanek and Miller?
Iginla to Bruins rumor is still around. I could see that happening.
If our top 3 centers are Briere, Hodgson, and Grigo, I'm not seeing a whole lot of defense down the middle. Briere would help the power play, but we're going to get scored on a ton.
